Is any type of spandex ok for a fabric tail?

I couldn't find a thread on different types of spandex...but on Spandex world, they have nylon, cracked ice, metallic, printed, etc. versions of spandex. Does anyone know if any of these absolutely can NOT be used for a fabric tail? Thanks in advance!

From what I've read, holographic fabric doesn't hold up well in the water.

Is there anything I could do to help it hold up, or would I have to find a different fabric?

The holographic foil on the spandex doesn't hold up too well to the rigors of swimming. It dulls down pretty quickly. As for holding it up, install an elastic and/or drawstring waistband.

There's some discussion about coating fabric with Dragonskin, but for me, it still in the planning and testing phase.

You Americans have so many varieties of printed swimwear spandex... Over here its mostly florals, stripes, cheetah dots, and tiger stripes. I just bought fabric from spandex world... Ugh the shipping was more than my fabric! First and last time to order from there ever!
