I got the full moon once
    That wasn't bad either.

...And I just realised H2O/Mako has it wrong.
Due to precession (earth axis rotation), the positions of constellations and the moon always changes, so wouldn't the moon always be full in a different position and NOT directly over the moonpool?

So it'd only be there at one exact date, not every month.

Stonehenge is sun based, which is always in the same position based on earth's rotation around the sun. Earths precession wouldn't make any noticeable difference in our life time (26,000 years per rotation), but you are right, the moon is always in a different position when full, but it will NEVER be directly over the moon pool.

In order for the moon to ever be directly overhead you would need to between 22° N and 22° S latitude. At the equator you would have two times per year the moon was directly over head. At 22° only once.

If you are at 22° South, the sun and moon will be highest Jan 21/22. At my location in Iowa (Wolfram alpha is being a brat) the sun never gets higher than 77° above the horizon (Jun 21/22 since I am in the northern hemisphere).

Now lets take a look at what days Jan 22 has a full moon. Between 1900 and 2100 there are 8 times: 1913, 1924, 1970, 2008, 2027, 2046, 2065, and 2084. I don't know how long their mermaids live, but in human terms, the winter solstice and a full moon will only happen 5 time while I am alive.

    Thanks, Chatfish!

Yes, I meant that the full moon could not be directly overhead, much less every month like it's happening in the H2O/Mako universe.

It occurred to me when swimming during a full moon, and the moon was somewhere far away on the horizon.
So if you want to swim directly under the full moon somewhere, it'd have to be at the equator during the solstice like you said.
    Right?

Dang it, I missed the 2008 opportunity. Arrgh no
Have to wait for 2027 now I guess...

It may be August, but I have started preparations for one of my favorite holidays... Halloween! My wig came in the mail today, so I couldn't resist trying on my costume and taking a selfie! I am seriously considering wearing my tail when I sit out on the porch to pass out candy!

You will need to be somewhere between 22°N and 22°S, depending on the year. You can use http://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/light.html to see where the moon is now and for any date or time you give it. http://home.hiwaay.net/~krcool/Astro/moon/fullmoon.htm is the list of every full moon over a 200 year span.

Madison?? You make an awesome blonde, Olivia! Halloween is my fav too. I am thinking about going as a genie. I just finished painting the bottle and adding Swarovski crystals to it.

You guessed it! My actual hair is dyed blonde, too, and I thought it might be long enough by Halloween that I could go without a wig, but a few days ago I had to have several inches of hair cut off after the ends turned blue (chlorine + purple shampoo is not a good combo ROFL). I just ended up getting a nice wig instead- at least I don't have to worry about taking the time to crimp my real hair. You will definitely have to post pics of your genie costume- I bet it will look amazing! I love the idea of a bedazzled bottle!

wow, those are seriously cool links!

I actually had the full moon almost directly overhead during my time in Egypt.
Sadly, I didn't swim because I was afraid of sharks.

Went for my first swim in my Mahina merfin! I am definitely too out of shape to work it like I should. Gonna have to train and work up to it, I think. I did get to splash my husband with it, though!

Made a big decision last weekend....i decided not to do work on Saturday and Sunday anymore, meaning no more book keeping, and posting on the Dutch craigslist to sell as much stuff from around the house as i can, no more any stupid work i don't like to do.
After 2 years of working every day it's enough!
This weekend was the first weekend where i did whatever the h*ll i felt like and my goodness it felt awesome!
I finally got to sit down for hours and craft for my Fairy Me Etsy shop! Normally i only do that in between my boring work but now i could focus on it 100% and just enjoy it completly!
    Yay!
Even made time to watch Labirynth, loved that movie!
Maybe tomorrow i will be able to finally after a year play some harp again!
    Loving this new lifestyle!
