Thread: Matching top for my fabric tail

Matching top for my fabric tail

So, I finished my very first tail last Sunday (apart from some final decorations) so now I'm working on a matching top. (Visit the thread about my tail here: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthre...st-Fabric-Tail! )

To be honest, I don't really have a plan yet. I wanted to make it a seashell-bra top, but maybe I won't use the seashells and just use the bra and add some decorations. I'll just go with the flow and see what I end up with

I bought a pretty cheap but sturdy padded bra (just in case this first attempt went horribly wrong) and I'm almost finished covering the base.

Beginning with the covering. I really dislike panter prints, luckily none of it will be visible once it's done.

    Almost done with the coverage.

Nice! How did you do the back straps? Cut it off and make a new one? Or left in on and covered it?

I left it in and covered it with the sparkly green fabric. If you look closely at the second picture, you can see that the strap on the left still has the original print. On the right, it's covered with the new fabric

So far, so good. Still not finished, but it's good enough to be able to take it for a swim tomorrow, along with my new tail.

Hopefully it'll look as pretty on my as it does on my mannequin (I'm not that slim, but o well... )

This looks lovely! Nice and simple but still mermaidy. Good job.

I hope that's not a real starfish, it will mildew in the water if it is. (Or if you don't coat it really really well)
