    Broken Rapid Post, Advice?

    Hi All,

I've been swimming with my Finis Rapid monifin in fabric tails since around August, and most of that time has been twice a week in chlorinated pool water. When I was swimming yesterday I noticed that the hook on the straps that clasps in between the feet kept coming off. When I looked closed, I noticed that the post between the footpockets where the hook clasps had snapped. :-(

Does anyone know a fix for this?

String it up like the Aquarius and tie an elastic strap that goes across the top of your feet.

I've broken two Rapids, but not in the way that you have. You might be able to drill out and repair that post with a nylon bolt ( https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...0depot&es_th=1 ) I wouldn't use a metal bolt because of using it in water.

Just be sure to countersink the head and nut so it doesn't jab you in your instep, or pad them accordingly.

Then start saving for another fin, because this is only a temporary fix. I liked the way my Rapids swam, but that fall apart.

I'm not sure that would work for me. At the tightest setting the strap fits my feet perfectly with the middle hook. Without being able to have the middle hook, the strap is too big.

That sounds plausible, however may be above my technical ability. :-/

I wonder if there's something I could wrap the post with to reinforce it, but keep it thin enough for the hook to snap onto...

Finis will sometimes replace things or parts for free if you contact them

My friend broke his Rapid in the exact same way. I believe he drilled a hole and ran a bolt through the broken post. I'll ask him when he gets home.

EDIT: Yep, that's just what he did. Drilled a hole through the post, then slathered a wood screw with Epoxy and shoved it in there. Seems to be holding just fine after a few months.

Even if I wasn't the one that bought the monofin? This is the one from my tail that Blaze made.
