and she clearly made these comments after I made my other one with my fanpage LOL. methinks someone just wants attention...
A 5 year old thread on something awful. somehow represents the entire mermaid community. Good to know. Like when you google "mermaids" this comes up right away I imagine? *rolls eyes* that still makes so little sense. Why would her dad just decide to use the word mervert.
whoa what??? This is all so weird! I didn't think that mermaids were that well known of to the point of someone pulling something like that. I thought this whole subculture was somewhat unheard of for the most part. I guess some people have nothing better to do....

I remember Shelly laying her mersona to rest. I guess there were some issues of trust betrayal between her and several of her friends and she felt like she was being taken advantage of as both a friend and a tailmaker. I remember seeing the event on Facebook and being very sad to see her turn to sea foam but she gave her mersona a beautiful burial at sea.
haha are you living under a rock? (I mean that in a funny way, also you should introduce yourself in the introduction board) mermaids are bigger than they've ever been. All being reported on by every major news outlet around the world, mermaids standard in most aquariums, films, tours, I bet if you walked up to some random group of people chances are at least 1 person in the group will have a reference point for pro mermaids at this point
darn, that really sucks. she was awesome.

thanks! I just posted an introduction. I didn't really know how to go about doing it but I tried haha
I have a bad feeling about all of this. I believe that most mer-people of this community must keep their eyes open. If it happened once, i won't be surprised if it happened twice.
Remember Murphy's law: Everything can go wrong, will go wrong. And as a computer guru, the internet is a really bad place where god knows what is lurking around. I believe there is another site like this that still active, maybe not. Just saying.
The world sees us as Merfolk
We see ourselves as a Pod, as a family
We live to swim
So weird

Personally now that this was taken down, I'm satisfied. And perhaps I'm naive, but I do think that to some extent this was just total cluelessness on their part. Using the word mervert is pretty clearly inappropriate, but the fact that they embedded other sites on their website isn't actually that bad on its own. If they had just had a link to MerNetwork it wouldn't look that creepy, but embedding it totally does. And from an HTML perspective, what they did was extremely similar to posting a link.
Just to give more insight into using iframe, here's how you do it. Feel free to try it out here.
To make a link, use the following code:
<ahref="http://www.mernetwork.com/index/forum.php">This is a link to MerNetwork!</a>
To post something in an iframe, use the following code:
<iframesrc="http://www.mernetwork.com/index/forum.php"></iframe>
For the moment the only thing I can think to is that I'm happy this ended soon!

yeah the whole thing was just weird, and it did look like some school scam which is the last thing we need...
Random thought morning thought. If let's say for instance it was her dad.
what if he thought he could combine the words "mermaids" and "adverts" unbeknownst to him that "merverts" is something that we as a collective group of people use to mean something entirely different (mer perverts as opposed to mer adverts) ?
Upon first glance it does look like an advert for a school.
:Then again the creep factor of streaming this forum is... :/ :

Well he quoted mervert so it was intentional
