    sealing shells and bringing color back

    hello. I am making my own head dresses. I know one of the answers how to bring the color back to your shells if you know of a better way please let me know or different ways.

    but my question is how do you seal your shells?? I want the stuff that you would paint Onto your shell to seal it.

    an acrylic sealer or resin coating is best for shells
    you can get a 2 part resin pour on from hobby lobby... brand is called pour on... It was recommended to me by Iona.

    thanks so much I appreciate the help so much ! i would hate to do all this work to my shells then them crack cause of water chemicals and stuff thanks again

    chlorine shouldnt hurt shells.. water is death to starfish...

    resin is good way to strengthen

    I haven't sealed my shells in anything and they stand up alright in water. A couple of coats of varnish or resin though brings the colour back up. Starfish either coat them in heaps of resin or make castings of them as they're like sponges
