Hey folks I just wanna warn you for those of you posting your sketches BEFORE your tails have been given to you, that mertailor in the past has frequently trawled the forum and suddenly made tails with the same paint schemes as designs members has posted. While it's exciting to post your sketch, if you don't want it stolen it might be smart to keep off the web.

Well thats good to know AniaR! That's absolutely uncalled for to threaten or make a whole lot of changes just to make matters worse. I totally understand seeing a new vision for the tail once you get the sketch from her or her changing something to make your tail look awesome but nit-picking the tail when you know the wait etc is just bullshit. Too bad she can't really be dominate and say "if you're going to act like this/threaten me then here is your refund and forget the tail." But her business.

Honestly it's all worth the wait though! All entirely worth the wait I just want to understand her business and how she works is why I'm asking all the questions. Forgive me Raina if I'm probing too much.

Thought that might be the case, so I only uploaded the very first draft which we've developed since then. Besides, if they want that design now they would probably copy it once you posted the real thing anyway. Raven is just too damn awesome at designing!

A) Yes she is
B) It's more a case of, if you share a sketch and he does decide to steal it he could probably produce a mertailor version before Raven gets around to making her version, which would be enough for his legion of blind fans to accuse HER of stealing his design. This is especially the case if someone shares a sketch and then takes it back down or edits it. That's why, sorry guys, but I'm not showing anyone anything to do with my tail until it's in my hands.

Mertailor doesn't have an account officially and he is banned from the site, but that doesn't mean he can't come on here and see things posted or that he doesn't have a secret acct. as is the general rule with the whole internet: nothing is 100% private and in your control.

no no you're fine it's ok to ask! lol. I didnt take it that way. I just think there's so much that goes on behind the scenes for ALL tail makers that people on mernetwork never hear about. And when someone's tail is late they often dont give all the reasons why on mernetwork either.

mertailor doesnt officially have an account but in the past we've caught him using proxies to make alt accounts on multiple occasions. But as we've seen from some of the other knock off tail makers, they arne't above stealing ideas either.

If you can see it on mernetwork without being logged in, anyone else can see it too is the rule of thumb. Very few areas of the forum are locked.

A perfect example, Raven was the first tail maker to make an octopus top. But she didnt post it right away publicly, only on her FB. At the time she was trying to be peaceful with Eric and had him as a friend. Next thing you know, he's posting an octopus top that is te exact replica of hers. When Raven finally posted nice photos of hers publicly it was all ahhh you copied mertailor. When her photos from her personal page had been online almost a year at that point lol.

I think it was Lorelei maybe who had a tail design she posted totally ripped by him in the most obvious way.

Yuuuuuuup. That was me. I think he calls it his Aztec or something. It's an exact replica of the design I drew up for my first tail. I ended up changing my fluke design and liking the second one better, but it was still shitty on his part and a serious knock in my estimation of the community when I was starting out.

Yeah, when I first started out in the mercommunity I was all about sharing the concept designs I had for my dream tail, when I was designing my Mersona. Since I learned that copycats are as rife here as in every other community, I stopped sharing my designs except for the most basic ones / ones that I knew I'd never personally commission for myself. I've had really gross instances of theft in other communities (the furry community had one instance— that I know of— of some guy commissioning porn of himself with my main character without telling me), so I'm pretty paranoid about that stuff now. I still get a little nervous that my mersona's design will get copied at some point. :/
