I GOT ACCEPTED INTO MY DREAM COLLEGE'S SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE!!!! I can't go because of my school schedule and the schedule of a camp I want to staff at this summer, but the fact that I got accepted is a REALLY good sign for applying there my senior year for college!!!

What college? I'm going to throw Bennington out as a guess. Congrats! Although, if you can get in and you're wanting to go there for college, see if there may be a way to get permission/credit from your school to go, or see if the program will let you show up a little late. It's worth it to start making those connections early, especially for something like dance.

It's called Sam Houston State University! It's in Huntsville, Texas. The issue is that it overlaps my last week of school and the first 2 weeks of summer camp... I could probably get out of school but first 2 weeks of the camp are the most important

I'm so happy my best friend Emily said she would like to be a mermaid with me! So I'm thinking of making us hybrid spandex-silicone tails! I'm so excited and happy that she would be willing to try mermaiding and thinks it's cool!

My friend and I had planned to get tattoos the other day. She was going to get a Bowie tribute and I was going to get a word from Shakespeare's first folio. Then absolutely last minute we changed our minds! She got a shield on her middle finger and I sketched this guy:
I was just sitting there and remembered how much I absolutely love mermaids and how insanely important they are to me. More than that though, I love the creation method behind pearls. A quick, scarcely scientific explanation is: when an irritation enters a clam, it surrounds it with a pearl sac and coats it with layer after layer of calcium until it becomes a pearl. I was raised in an abusive household and when I moved out, life still never stopped being hard. But I embrace the idea of taking a trying experience and still being able to create something beautiful from it. I'm just really glad to have this guy and it's also really surreal to have my own art on my body!

That's a beautiful tattoo Marius! I have my own sea star sketch on my foot, and it has similar meaning. You can tear a sea star apart, and as long as it has part of its center, it will regenerate everything it lost -- can't get a sea star down! Also, I put it on my foot so whenever I was feeling dejected and looking down, I would see it and remember to look up. It's awesome to have your own work on your body.

My happy news is that I was telling my husband about the dream I had where I got a Marbella's tail, and he said, "you know what? When our business becomes profitable, we're going to get you that tail, and then take it on vacation somewhere beautiful to do some shoots with it."

I'm so happy! I finally have some time to work on remaking my scales. I also have a new clay machine which is making rolling out even sheets of clay so much easier! I'm so excited to be able to get a good start on making my clay scales and fluke!

Today is my 40th Birthday. My co-workers lured me out of my office to a bogus meeting then decorated my office all tropical and mermaids!
