Thread: What is a good tail to start out with?

What is a good tail to start out with?

I'm very new to this community and I am very excited to learn more, I know someone recommended in my intro thread that I start out with a monofin first before worrying about the tail which is probably what I will do, but as far as fabric tails go, I'm looking to eventually get something nice but nothing to expensive or elaborate at least for now. would anyone recommend any particular tail maker over another as far as quality, performance, or durability? Also is there any particular type of monofin I should start with or look for?

I'm definitely looking forward to learning more and eventually getting my first tail.

What are you looking for in a tail? Like, for ocean swimming, or in a pool? There are companies varying from strong tails to ones you can just swim in a pool in. There are also the universal-type tails for anything.

Delfina is also a great up and coming company.

FinFun, Magictail, and even Mertailor have decent fabric tails.

There is a tab on our site with links to all sorts of tailmaker's and their reviews from clients, as well as another link that aides in making your tail yourself.

Edit: Here's the link: Merfolk Tails.info

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I will check them all out. At this point I'm not looking for anything too pricy, I'd just like a nice fabric tail to swim in a pool with. I can't wait to finally get one, They all look so awesome!

Like you I started with a monofin before I getting a tail. Currently I have the triton/hydra monofin. Sadly it's hard to find one that fit my fin so I am currently making mine. Do you want to use your existing monofin or get a new one with a fabric tail? Cause just getting the fabric will cut the cost.
