Things you can do as a mermaid

    Hi everyone,

I've been working on a list of things you can do as a mermaid, I guess I'm considering my own mermaiding future. Here's a few I know of so far, can you help me add to my list? ^_^

    - story time with children
    - swimming in aquariums for an audence
    - pool parties
    - modeling
    - conservation
    - open a mermaid school/class
    - fitness and health
    - YouTube videos
    - tail making
    - mer accessory making

Hi Sakutama, good list so far Another thing I can think of is - once you get some sort of business up and running - doing business seminars, like Raina does. I think she has some online classes for it as well. Another think that's been done it the past is publishing a magazine, though I'm not sure how doable that might be...there might be quite a lot of resources needed to start that off. And another good post to check out it this: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthre...as-from-Raina) Lots of great ideas

Thank you! And that link is fantastic! I feel bad that I repeated a topic though...I guess I'd like to expand my list to all activities, not just professional. and I'm sure there are even some mermaids out there who don't swim, but still do something in the mermaid community. ^_^

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm pretty new myself but can't wait to try so many things - in particular the jewellery and accessory making, I'm just such a magpie DEFINITELY need to swim though

Me too! And I just noticed we both joined just this month! I'm in the process of setting myself up at a gym to start teaching myself the dolphin kick. Then my next plan of action is buying a mono fin, and going to a pool that allows them to practice. THEN once I'm confident with the monofin, I'm getting a fabric tail. I guess I'll know what's next once I get to that point, but that won't stop me working on some mermaid arts and crafts in the mean time. ^_^

I'm exactely the same! Just set up with my local pool this week, been swimming 2 so far. Used to do a lot of it before but sort of 'drifted off' due to some health issues. I'm back on the track though and plan on buying a monofin as soon as I improve my technique and breath hold a little and the fabric tail after that as well Have you decided which monofin you want to buy yet?

Wow we're basically at the same point in our journeys! It's so nice to know someone at the same point, especially since there isn't a big mermaiding community here in Japan yet. I'm not sure if I'm the right person to start one since I'm so new myself. But I've started a Facebook group, and sent a message to an admin to ask about making a Japan pod here. I guess you have to do something to bring everyone together.

I used to LOVE swimming, but life got busy. But the rare chances I got to swim, I loved it so much every time. I'm not sure what mono fun to get yet, I'm still in the research phase. ^_^

Yes I totally agree, it's great to be able to bounce ideas with someone who's going through the same thing as you I wouldn't worry about not being 'the right person' to start a mer community in your country. Just do what you like because you like it and see what happens - good luck!

As to the monofin, I'm thinking the Triton one which seems quite good and for a reasonable price - can't wait to get it and try it out! Btw. I keep loosing track of this thread so if you ever want to chat just feel free to PM me
