    Spandex Silicone Hybrid #2

I am getting ready to start on my daughters new tail. We just completed her first tail and my first tail making attempt lol. Definitely learned a lot of things during the process and what we want to change and what we are keeping.

Thanks we went today to check out fabric and we are up in the air. Originally we were going to do white and paint but than we found this dark purple Name: IMG_8752.JPG

    And this white/silverName: IMG_8751.JPG

Now she is thinking of using one of these as the base.
If we use the purple we will be using these glitter flakes for the belly area to lighten and bland to the dark Name: IMG_8756.JPG

And than use black and teal fabric paint for the rest
Here is the paint we looked at but not sure how well it would workName: IMG_8747.JPG

I will keep this updated as we make decisions and start buying product Thanks again I hope people follow and give my their input since I am still learning

I'm diggin' either base. The white might pose as a trouble area though. White and silver spandex has been known to fade terribly and sometimes, especially white, become see through. Although, I don't know how the silicone coating will affect that.
But it'd be great to have another iridescent mer out there! *high fives for irridencence! Lol*
I actually have very similar sparkles for my new mini-projects. I'll try and find a photo and show you. They are workin wonders, are small, and incredibly shiny! Lol only $3 at Walmart.
I don't have much experience with paint as I only did little details when I made my first tail out of spandex and now again with little details on my dorsal on neoprene. But I'm using Tulip brand and I know other have, but not specifically what kind.

Me too! she completely changed the color theme but that is ok. My daughter decided she wanted a black base with purple strips and purple and teal fins and she wanted a ton of glitter. So the stripes on the back will be painted on with a glitter base and sealed in with the silicone

Ok so first I measured out the dimensions for the mahina merfin and added a 1/2in on each side than I had my daughter lay down for her chalk out line. Since this side was her belly I had her lay face up than repeat and do other side

After each one we did not remove the excess glitter. We will wait until dry than shake out the extra glitter apply any additional that is needed and deal with a fabric spray sealant!

I guess I should also mention when she laid down I had her lay in the middle of the merfin measured area. I also had her point toes and chalked around her all the way to the rib cage the extra fabric at top will be used to sew in the elastic waist. Keep in mind the fluke will not look like that it will be finished last after the merfin is received and I can chalk the exact outline for that.

Small stripes on now we wait when these are dry I will pin the front and back and make sure the glitter stripes line up. While that dries I will than sew the zipper into the back part.
