GREETINGS!

My name is Suzy aka "Specter'. I am a costumer, gamer, vlogger, and... a looney? Yep. That.

SO - For a while now a good friend of mine Mermaid Amelia Pond has been trying to convince me to make a tail... I've always wanted one, but I was terrified of the challenge in a strange aspect...

I'm a weirdo. I know this. I love and accept this. It's what makes me... ME. I'm in a new phase of my life where I'm being uncompromisingly ME, and I refuse to do otherwise lolThat being said: I am prepping an embarking on my first tail journey. I have been creeping here doing ALL KINDS OF RESEARCH, and I have been absolutely pleased with how people here are open, supportive, and community driven to new ideas.

o_O It has FILLED ME WITH DETERMINATION O_o @_@ *saves game*

So... Sometime this week I am going to share my concept with you guys - I've already shared it with a few close mers, and I know the process will be long and full of challenges... BUT I'M READY! I want to share my journey via video and I hope that I can get some much needed help. Im at the beginning point of the "investment" stage, so I've decided to lay the cards out and get second and third and 50th opinions, because the less costly the mistakes the better... For my sanity.... And wallet...

I will be sharing via youtube but I'm making the videos unlisted so they will be here only for a while (basically unless you share they wont be public on youtube lol). I want to do this until I have actual progress to report. I have three channels, so I think Ill set this up on my costuming - makeup - tutorials channel, "Stuff N Things"

I feel more confident braving this territory here amongst the sea peeps. Reading progress threads here is like a good book where you just can't WAIT to get to the next part of the story!

Welcome! I am still not sure if I will ever make my own silicone tail, but if I were to I think I would start off making something smaller in silicone such as a silicone starfish top. So you can always do something smaller first to build up confidence and experience before making your tail.

Thanks! I won't lie, I've been watching it via Lets Plays, but my friends are really into it and have even done cosplays from it. It's really cute. I love Burgerpants lol.

I love that costuming and cosplay is common now. When I wasn't as old it was something that got you beat up. It's so wonderful to know there's a world of mermaids / mermen / sea peeps.

Cosplay saved me from the darkest my horrible time in my life and I'll forever try to share its joys with others!

I spoke with my mother recently and I actually figured out my first real "cosplay" that I made was A MERMAID TAIL! Lol.

I wanted to look like "the mermaid from Splash" and as a child we put pillow cases and sheets on our legs, tying our ankles with shoestrings to create what I think people today would call "a dry tail".

One year I saved up my allowance for many months, and purchased some fluorescent magenta fabric. We didn't have a sewing machine, so we handstitched a long pillow case type leg covering with an elastic waist band that I was able to swim in by putting flippers my grandmother bought me in the end, and a shoestring around my ankles.

It was my first ever "costume I made not for Halloween", and that sentiment has brought me years of joy.

I can't wait to get started on my silicone creation. I love seeing people create here. If more people tried mer-life we'd have a better world lol. Truf.
