Hi hi -- long time no type. I'll be there - hello I live here ha! - and depending which car I drive and if sweet hubby comes I may be able to shuttle some of you over from CLT - GSO. My team will be there as well except for Kym who is going to be running around in St. Croix Bonnie and I are tentatively going together and our philosophy is the more glitter the merrier.
Speaking of outfits I lent a few dresses out last year and am more than happy to do that this year. they're all floor length and most are jewel encrusted cause pageants. Most of the dresses are 2/4 but I do have a few larger sizes if you'd like to borrow one of my high end gowns. Please just return them before you go! They're just sitting there not dancing and I'm sure you'll look pretty ! Just shoot me a face book message - I am not on here much.
Anyone who comes through Charlotte can grab some kisses from my huskies - since I keep getting asked. They're lovable and ready.
I'm excited to meet everyone this year and have more social time. I believe this will likely be my last con, I am starting to feel pulled towards philanthropy and conservation full time.
It was fun last year and I know it's going to be fun again.

My husband Eric, my daughter Esther Grace and I will be for sure attending! I can't wait to see old friends and meet new ones. My daughter has met other mermaids on our Caribbean adventures but hasn't been to a mermaid convention yet and I am ecstatic for her to meet so many friends who have watched her grow up online. I was pregnant with her at the first Merfest there, & I was told that my body would not medically maintain a pregnancy due to my health at the time. I attribute her staying with me bc of all the love and positive vibes at Merfest. It feels like a life time ago at Merfest I rubbed Connie's 5 month pregnant belly for good luck, passed out after our fashion show (sorry Luma again, but I didn't know what was happening to me) , and ate so much at the ball my dress popped open and my mersister Lei Loni had to pin me back up in it lol....happy tears over here with such fond memories. I still have my medal and photo from winning the MerOlympics on display here. I'm looking forward to making new beautiful memories! Shannon I can't wait to swim with you again and yes we have to get all glammed up for the ball. I will bring my Merbellas tail, my new Kariel tail and top & my sequined tail.....plus Esther's tails. If anyone has a baby between NB-18 month size I can bring Esther's baby tails to loan for some fun pix. Just let me know.
Maybe we can go shopping when I fly out in December. I wish we had time for the designer daddy to make us something insane. There are so many people I want to see and I'm so grateful it's in my back yard. Get those dancing fins on fishes !!!

I'm working on a light-up wig (normally goes with my Luna cosplay), but I haven't decided on what dress I'm going to wear. My normal evening gown is awesome, but really long. I will also be bringing my LED pod poi, just in case some techno music comes on.

Saren my photographer Ziggy wants to come. Would you be open to sharing a room with him? He's a stand up guy, he's stayed in our home and with us in key largo. Non-smoker not a drinker and really sweet. If you would be interested how much would it be to pay for a bed?

Your photographer is welcome to come but as mentioned previously, one of our rules is that the hired photographers have exclusivity- which is a common standard at conventions and similar events. This means your photographer would not be allowed to take anything other than candid photos of people as it would undermined the people who are offering their services this year. He's welcome to network for next year etc obviously. But this if a formal rule we're enforcing this year to avoid some o the mishaps that have happened at previous conventions, and we have already turned away several other photographers- some who were local. (It's nothing personal, if you look at various online postings this is something we've been saying for months)
But, he's certainly welcome to hand out business cards and network with people for future opportunities.
Can you post the link to these rules please? I cannot find them on the main website where I bought the tickets.
Rules will be provided in everyone's welcome package and be signed as an agreement for the convention participation along with the waivers for photo/video and use of the pool, just like last year. As this is a ticketed event, they are non-negotiable.
Just a thought, it might be a good idea to have a copy of the rules posted on the main webpage so that everyone knows what they are ahead of time, and they aren't surprised by anything.

Saren, Ziggy would still like to have your contact info about the room. I know he will enjoy meeting other mers and the panel on mers of color since he is a black American underwater photographer. He's not coming to get paid to take anyone's photos, he knows this.
this has always been the plan. We are waiting on some information about trans rights in NC (given the current political climate) that literally resolves today, in order to ensure we have the right legal grounds for our wording on rules that will protect our trans participants. (which was previously discussed) However, the rule about photography has been discussed here, Bonnie was explained it in another threads months ago, it's on the website in the summary of the underwater photos, and has been posted on the summary of the underwater photos in the group. It was announced the moment the underwater photographers were announced.
As a private event we do reserve the right to adjust our rules as we see fit, such as the case with the new requirement from our venue the GAC to have swim tests for kids who want to swim on the Divewell. (something we hadn't originally planned as a rule, but came up recently as a stipulation during meetings with the GAC and was posted accordingly to warn everyone ahead of time)
In this end of things, we actually NEED more speakers for this panel as not everyone who contributed to it is able to attend the event. So if you/ziggy wanted to get in contact with Daphne as she is managing the panel, Ziggy might be able to offer his perspectives on underwater photography/modelling as it pertains to the panel. He of course, doesn't have to if he'd rather watch. But as I said some of the people who contributed content are unable to come, and I am sure he'd have an interesting perspective on the industry in that regard!!I know he will enjoy meeting other mers and the panel on mers of color since he is a black American underwater photographer.
