Ty I have a tattoo sleeve with koi, a geisha, and dragonflies so the koi pattern seemed a natural fit lol

It's all blue, Since it's my favorite color.

I gotta work at my tail drawing skills
    And then
    When the Empress ran aground
And my eyes turned blue and green
    I heard a gorgeous sound
And that's when it became a dream. When the sky fell in
When the hurricanes came for me. I could finally crash again And that's how I became the sea♪

Here's a design I've been playing with. It would way a ton because of those ridiculous hips fins though, so not something that will come true in the near future, but maybe someday.

I'd love to see that someday! It's beautiful! But no kidding, that thing would weigh a ton. :P

Even if you managed to do it light, say with chiffon, the drag would kill you.

    Beautiful, though!

Can I have some help? I'm getting ready to make a new tail because I've gained so much weight there's no way I can even pull my current one up past my butt, but I can't figure out the color pallet! I just bought this paracord as corset lacing and realized I would love to have a tail with these colors but when I drew it out it looked like a plain old rainbow tail

Do you remember Raven's tail with the merfin fluke? It was rainbow coloured but more vibrant than these colours
"Will you walk a little faster?" said a Whiting to a Snail
"There's a Porpoise right behind us and he's treading on my tail!"

The irridescent tail? I remember that one, I really love the way she paired the pastel colors on it, but I don't want to copy the tail And I know that even if the colors a slightly similar people will say I'm ripping her off.

This is my current design so far - I'm gonna try and make a Aqua Man costume for Halloween this year, maybe I can get away with making a tail for this. But I'm not sure.

    Nice work!!

One thing to help with drawing tails, is a croqui. I started using a croqui for my college course and oh boy, it has helped a lot when designing swimwear and tails.

If you don't know what a croqui is, it is a paper model that you trace around with paper to draw your pattern.

I normally just draw one side, then use tracing paper to draw the other side. Drawing the other side without tracing paper NEVER looks the same as the first side!

Thanks. The left side was an attempt at a contour drawing of myself, or in other words, similar to a croqui like you said. The tail design on the right was just eyeballed with the symmetry tool in Krita. I'm trying to make it more draconic in appearance, I'm thinking a pauldron, diadem, and some forearms could add to that effect. Either that, or I'm kinda wanting to go for a Percy Jackson "son of Poseidon" kind of vibe.
