You are not AT ALL being too harsh, Claudia. You spent big money on this.

Assuming that you didn't have to save up but were just able to slap it on a credit card and pay it off in a month or two, and even assuming you had paid only 1/10 of what you DID pay, I would say that you are absolutely entitled to complain and have things Made Right. Basic Contract Law - Covered this my second week of classes, very first semester of law school. ;-)

And yes, as far as schools go, I'd rather be in a school of fish.

Heck - if you know law school, I'd probably rather be in a school of fish caught in a trawling net...

    This isn't Okay.

I'm not sure why but the transition of colors is so much better in that photo; probably the lighting though.

Also just looked at the website, all their Mythic tails are sold out o.o

Which actually is nice considering they can catch up on all of their previous orders xD

Previously just the Teal, Magenta, Nile, and Pink were sold out.

Wow, the pink tails are really, really pretty.

Buy a teal mythic tail, or use the money to save up for a full silicone tail? Decisions are hard :P

yes i will most definitely be taking pics and pics of me swimming in it at my local pool (i hope with every fibre of me that they will be cool with it i am gonna go at like 6am when its hopefully empty or last thing at night to prevent any arguments) the lifeguards there know i use my merfin soooo it shouldn't be too shocking me turning up in my full mermaid tail right?? lol

i am thinking if the scales fall off and i am lucky enough to retrieve them, i have some e6000 glue, what do you guys think about stitching the scales back on and for added security applying a tiny bit of glue behind the scales ? good idea or no? any ideas thoughts and feelings welcome

I am not an expert! But if you use E6000 for the scales your tail, I feel you should apply the glue to the scale above the loose scale and glue it to that, and NOT to the neoprene underneath the scales. I think dried up glue on the neoprene will decrease the fabric's stretch, and possibly cause tearing. Other than that, stitching + glue for extra security sounds like a good idea.

Also, extra scales are provided with your tail with no extra cost.

yeah perhaps applying glue on the neoprene itself would be a bad idea. your idea sounds good but i hope it wouldn't make the tail stiff? but if applied to one scale it'd be ok. but not a good solution for all over the tail. it'd make the whole thing stiff i guess. have to be a work in progress with ideas on how to keep these scales on. be interesting to see others ideas on this. wonder what the twins may advise too.

If glue is too risky after all, you could ask a sewing shop for an extra strong type of thread that will not (easily) tear. I used something like that once for a project, it was untearable and I'm pretty strong.

thanks, good advice. i think the thread the twins used is already supposed to be strong anyway

Yeah I would double thread all the scales, considering what I've heard about that E6000 glue, I'm surprised people still use it. You'd also need a good needle for the neoprene as well.

Some mers have used fishing line as thread to sew on sequin scales. That could work if you have trouble with the thread.

I saw a lot of mythic tails today at the GAC and I can tell you they are gorgeous! They fins are just stunning, but the scales are thinner than I thought and the thread connecting them to the tail were more visible on some than others....I also saw Abby and Bryn...they were giving test swims…

My mythic tail is on its way to me and I couldn't be more excited!!!! I truly hope it makes it in time before our trip :-) (fins crossed)!

I must say, the photos/videos coming from Mermania look amazing! Did anyone on this forum get a chance to swim in a Mythic Tail there? How was it?

Not mythic tail related, but I would like to share if that's ok, ahem, I noticed some very cool monofins from Finis in one of Merman Arion's Mermania videos! They are called the "Luna Mermaid Monofin", made of a flexible silicone and look like a perfect insert for a fabric tail or even just for dolphin kick training! (Again, apologies for sharing a non-Mythic Tail related post--perhaps the moderators could suggest a better place to post it)! I found the full info about it on the 2017 Surf Expo Website:

I didn't get to actually swim in the tail myself, but I was sitting right next to the people Abby and Bryn helped get into them. I heard nothing but good from them. Everyone who tried it said the tail was amazing and they loved it.

They do make loud clattering and snapping noises when you flip over and and get into the water even on a yoga mat and I know that the scales held up for that so don't worry too much.

Also the divers in the bottom of the pool did bring up a lot of things including some scales from the mythic tail, so if you swim in a pool I would look around and check before you left.

I hope this was a little informative, maybe someone else will come a long that actually tried it out. I know of at least two mermen who did...
