That picture right there. If you start autograph copies of that picture, I would so hang it on my wall. Everything is just perfect in that picture. Your photographer is amazing to take that shoot.

Awww you guys are too sweet . But these are just the disgarded pictures, the photographer is still working on the proper ones. I promise to make a proper gallery for you guys as soon as I have them all. And if any of you are genuinely interested in prints, I'll go talk to the photography team and see if I can even, legally, make that happen!

PS: Especially for PearlieMae, a sketch of the secret magic of the eeeeevil heel issue I looked at the foot in profile, realised what shapes were missing and sculpted/poured the result in silicone and built them into the tail. That's it really, it's just a trick I hope my silly doodle answers your questions.

Oh so your monofin doesn't come all the way up to your heels? Is it comfy to swim in it like that?
Great idea though and thank you so much for sharing! Really appreciated!

Another doodle for Pearlie Oh! I know what you mean. I didn't even consider someone would use closed heel monofins for a mermaid tail. it's impossible to get nice lines and hidden heels in these Monofins as the angle is off from the very start. I'm very sorry Most of the sport-monofins have open heels, so if all the competitive finswimmers and freedivers use them I figured there must be something to it. Personally I'd never ever go back.

My first monofin plan had an open heel however I read that when it comes to swimming, it is necessary that the whole length of your foot is supported, otherwise it's bad for your feet and you'll get cramps, so that's why I skipped it in the end... now you're saying there are actual monofins for divers...I'm confused @_@

It is a bit confusing. I suppose the state of your training and physical fitness is important when choosing your monofin. Open heeled monofins Do provide less support then closed ones. So to use them without danger of joint pain or strained sinues you should probably not be a complete beginner. Competitive swimmers and freedivers would have strong and well trained feet, ankles and calves, so they can handle the additional challenge easily. I used to be a professional dancer, so the muscles around my feet and calves are also well developed.

But cramps you can get from anything that overwhelms any one of your muscles. It happens to everyone . It can also indicate a magnesium deficiency (which your body needs to relax muscles) so if you suffer frequently from cramps in your muscles, try taking some magnesium food supplements (totally helps me for example).

Otherwise if you take good care of your body and keep up your training, there is no reason open heeled monofins should damage your health or wellbeing in any way.

I see thank you for explaining I'm glad I went for the closed heel though for my first tail, it helps me to develop my muscles. I also cycle to work so I have some great muscles too, so hopefully I can handle these better now!
Thanks for your reply, again, I can't wait for the final pictures!!! You are such a great inspiration. I actually got my bum up and fixed my torn tail because I saw how cool yours was and I wanted pretty pictures too! You rock!!

This has been such a wonderful thread. One of the most amazing tails I have ever seen! You make a beautiful mermaid! It has also been very inspiring! I am on the very early stages of planning my first tail and if it ends up turning out just half as beautiful as his tail I will be happy! I love how you did the coloring with the base colors and iridescence on top. I am going to have to play around with colors!

Thanks for for sharing your experience!

WOW. The scales blend together so beautifully, they look like a real fish and your color scheme is so lovely. Not a disaster at all! <3
