    It's my first post...

I ordered two Mythic tails on the beginning of December for myself and my friend. Should be the promotion on Black Friday. Therefore, I got nothing till today. No tracking number, no shipment information and even no feedback no matter email or FB message. Yeah, I posted on FinFolk Facebook. They just said it should be sent out on the beginning of February, just before their dad went to emergency surgery. I understand that's urgent and they got to get back to be with their dad. Therefore, they posted other promotion about buying tickets for having a customized tail. I was still waiting for their update since they said they can send out the LAST orders on the end of February.

I sent Facebook message and it was never read at all. That's frustrating!!!! Even more, I was starting to consider about silicone tails, but definitely not FinFolk. It's hard to contact and communicating with them...

    Seatreasure,
I didn't get shipping info until yesterday and I ordered my tail back at the beginning of November. And I had to contact them three times about an address change.
I think their issue is that they're now too small for their demand. They have so many orders and as far as I can tell there's only the two of them running the business. Emails go missed and Facebook messages go unintentionally ignored. Not to mention I can't imagine the messages and emails they get from 12 year olds asking for free tails.
It's frustrating, and if they don't do something about it soon they will lose business, however their business has really just boomed in the last year and a bit. Plus they had another employee awhile ago and they were betrayed so I think they want to be careful to whom they divulge their trade secrets. There's a lot of factors.
They're not a bad company, just too small for their costumers needs and I think they understand that. ☺

I haven't ordered anything from them but just from being an observer I agree with what Avya said. Since Finfolk started they have only been making silicone tails, something that is considered a 'luxury item' and is usually bought by people who are serious about mermaiding - usually those who have been in the community for a bit or have been a mermaid for a while - long enough to justify paying the money for a silicone tail. All of a sudden they come out with a much cheaper tail as well as a clothing line and random people who don't really know much about mermaiding but think it sounds cool are able to try it out because of these cheaper tails. Finfolk did a great job marketing their new brand too. Using social media, having a Black Friday sale, having a contest to win a free Mythic Tail (the requirements to enter certainly helped them get attention with the sharing and likes), all of these things just brought more and more attention to them which in turn brought in more and more sales. They even stated somewhere that they have sold way more tails than they were expecting. If they had known it would be such a big hit they might have tried to hire people to help them with production before they released this line, but as Avya said someone that worked with them went off and started making and selling silicone tails using techniques they learned from Finfolk - This has probably made it hard to bring in help because they are worried such a thing would happen again.

They are definitely swamped. Yes, it is lame that they are having trouble keeping up right now but I figure they will sort it all out just as they are still sorting out the kinks in the Mythic Tails themselves. They just didn't expect such a big, fast response to their new line of tails and they aren't used to producing big batches of products quickly since they were previously only doing custom silicone tailmaking.

That is how I see it at least.

    Thanks Anya and Alea!

I can only finger crossed and hope I can get some update this weekend...

Finfolk just announced they will release improved mythic tails soon and they are about to hire more crew! Hopefully this will solve current problems.

I'm excited about their new type of tails they're going to release. I'm guessing they will be fabric tails styled like the leggings.

    Mermaid Alea I completely agree..
Although I did order a Mythic tail, and it arrived a bit over 3 weeks ago now.. However when I unboxed it one of the foot fins was not attached to the tail at all I've tried contacting them a number of times about this.. In 3 weeks I've still received no response. It's kind of annoying to see them still posting on Facebook and marketing a product when they don't have the time to answer an existing customers concerns about a product that arrived broken :/

I agree that they are simply swamped though.

Frankly I gave up waiting for them.. It had been 3 months and I still didn't have a complete tail, so I didn't want to send it back, I waited 2 weeks for a response on what I should do about the fin in regards to returns/ compensation.. No such luck.
Gave up, and I've gone swimming in the tail now, didn't want to wait any longer.
I won't be able to return the tail now, which is fine, I just want to be able to fix it .. Which it looks like I will have to do myself.

The tail does swim beautifully though. I've had great fun swimming with it. I took my GoPro with me to the pool today and captured some great footage, I'll have to upload it somewhere.

    Finfolk's New Tails!

The "level" of mermaiding has nothing to do with good customer service. For someone like me ordering a mythic tail, I'm doing so because of not only my budget but to gain some experience before making a major purchase. Communication with an order, tracking numbers and shipping should come 100% with anything you order. I wouldn't excuse them just because some people are new to mermaiding. If they bought these tails out and in an abundance, they should have been more prepared for things to go wrong, had someone to answer emails and really made sure the product was of quality before selling. I like my tail, but it's incredibly defective and I wouldn't look to order a full silicon tail from Finfolk, or another Mythic tail.

The Earth is NOT some "dead thing" you can claim.

Well, I was pretty harsh with Finfolk because there were delays since they accepted more orders than they had supply for, so many of us didn't receive the tails in time for Christmas.. And when mine did arrive it had a fin that wasn't attached. Plus I didn't receive back any kind of reply regarding repair for over 3 weeks. (They saw my post here and got in touch, hooray!)
Their father did have a heart attack and had to go to hospital, and it's only a small family company so the communication delays are a little more understandable.

So, all of that aside, the tails themselves are fantastic to swim in, feels so lovely and natural in the water. I've have a great time at the local swimming pools.
I'm still very happy to have purchased a tail.

If you want to see the Mythic tails in action, I took a GoPro with me to a local pool and uploaded the video on Facebook.

Despite how gorgeous they are, I still don't like the Mythic Tails. I also feel this was ill-timed with how backed up their silicone orders are and how small they still are. The next step of waiting until all the next tails are made before selling them is a smart but a late move.

@Mermaid Machhalee In defense of Finfolk, don't assume their silicone tails are like the Mythic ones. They're been working with full silicone far longer and you can see their work in use from many other mers; they've solidified that quality. These tails are new and they are still hammering out the kinks as they've had to do with the silicone. The frustration is understandable with the new line and it's sad to see how some have received defective tails.

I feel this first batch should have been sort of like a kickstarter, you make a few, sell a few and wait for reviews with the knowledge these are just testers. Granted we don't know how long they've been testing these or how long they've actually been made. I'm curious who's actually making them all for the quality to be so floppy. I know they're expanding and looking into hiring more crew but they can't still just be the two of them still. They have good goals at least for this year to hammer out the cons of their business (waiting time, communication, etc). So hopefully they'll stick good to them.

@Karri3 That looks so pretty on you, I hope you can fix that fin. That's definitely heart breaking about the broken fin. If you're not a big fan of the heel ones, maybe you could rip them other one off? I know that's the opposite direction of attaching it, but hey it's one direction you could go and maybe use it for something else? Also very cute top.

I just had an idea of using your heel fins as a top if you pair it up with more silicone if you wanna get creative?

@Mer Coralia I actually did think about pulling the other heel fin off, funnily enough. As I almost asked when I ordered for them not to be included, but decided it would be too much hassle and I would probably still be paying full price for the fin set anyway (as the website options only had "full fin set")
I feel like the universe gave me a test run, you have one on, one off, choose which do you like better haha, turns out I quite like the heel fins.
And I think if I had tried to pull the other one off I would have damaged the neoprene base. Best not to try and do that.

The bra is made out of layering latex, I was working on it during the week, it's still not quite done yet. So the silicone heel fin wouldn't go with the latex, It would be easier to just make more latex fins.

Bra in progress, it was good enough to take to the pool at the time but I still have a lot of other things to add.

So I got my tail today!!
    It's beautiful...
    But it's way too big.
I measured myself over and over again and it was a perfect fit. 😔 what should I do? The tag is still on it. 😢 I don't want to return it, but I feel like I don't have a choice. 😢

I've heard good things lately from them. The only thing is the basic tails are all I have the budget for and I'm not a fan of them (just a personal preference, I think they're beautiful and great value, just not for me).

I did manage to get it on with my mom's help. It's baggy around the hip area but okay everywhere else. I don't know...

Maybe you can take it in a tad so it fits better?

Do his basic tails have drainage holes in the fluke? I asked via Facebook comment and he never tesponded.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm just not sure how. I know it can be done- Mermaid Bubu did it and made an awesome bra with the extra scales. I just don't want to wreck such beautiful art!

And I'm not sure if Mertailor does... I have a feeling he doesn't. He has them in his full silicone ones now, but as far as I can tell that's only been a relatively recent addition.
