I used a finis wave which I cut into a whale like shape, the way I cut it was a but too much so the tail doesent have the best thrust so I might either buy another one or attempt to make my own later on.

I've got a couple of tails, all of which I made myself. 2 are fabric and the other is neoprin with latex scales. <3

Here are just some pics of the first silicone mermaid tail I made. It's ot almost completed but it'll be soon ! (I'm gonna play the mermaid for a cosplay party this weekend

On these pics, the tail isn't wore by me but by two different friends (for the first, it was too big, for the second, too thight XD)

Be gently, it's only my first silicone tail and my third mermaid tail ^^"

VERY pretty Lira! I'd love to see it outside of water. The colors are so realistic!

Thank you very much ! In fact, all the scales have been molded on (about 1-2cm for a scale) and then, painted one by one three times : one layer in blue, one layer in dark bue for the shadows and one layer in silver for lights ! More than 20h of working !

Just a little zoom on the scales (bad quality and light)

What type of silicone did you use Lira? The tail looks great!

I used the worst silicone ever ! XD But I had no money so I decided to use it until I sell some latex and silicone tails (obviously, made with Dragon Skin). I used silicone for bathroom, like the Latex ALEX Plus, but with silicone ^^ But notice that, if you want to paint this type of silicone, you need to mix the paint with translucent silicone and Zippo fuel.

You did a very good job considering it was Alex Silicone. :> And yeah, I'm using Dragonskin as well. Still, very well done!

    Wait, what? Zippo fuel??

  18. #258
The zippo fuel acts as a thinner for the paint and alex.

Thanks ! I can't believe so many people like my tail ! *absolute happiness *w* *

Yeah, Zippo Fuel is used to liquefy the silicone cause it's so dense that you can absolutely not mix any paint with it ! I'm gonna make another one like mine for my little sister, but only with translucent silicone. I'll make the paint job directly on the Lycra/spandex. And it'll be the last one ! Never again ! >_<

Don't forget this if you want to use this type of silicone : be careful. Protect your hands, your eyes and your lungs cause if you not, it'll hurt you (it hurted me a lot, "We must suffer to be beautiful.").
