Lightbulb Celebrate Meatless Mondays And Go Vegetarian One Day A Week

Meatless Mondays is a really neat and increasingly successful campaign that I fully endorse. While it may not be realistic or practical for everyone in the world to go 100% vegetarian or vegan overnight, I think just about everyone can give the animals a day off at least once a week by participating in the Meatless Mondays campaign. Meatless Mondays is a great example how sometimes just a seemingly small, easy lifestyle change can make a big difference for the animals, the environment, and possibly even your health. Many schools and universities are participating, and several celebrities and medical professionals endorse the campaign.

According to the Environmental Working Group, if you eat one less burger a week, it's like taking your car off the road for 320 miles or line-drying for clothes half the time. If your four-person family skips meat and cheese one day a week, it's like taking your car off the road for five weeks-or reducing everyone's daily showers by 3 minutes. If your four-person family skips steak once a week, it's like taking your car off the road for nearly three months. If everyone in the U.S. ate no meat or cheese just one day a week, it would be like not driving 91 billion miles-or taking 76 million cars off the road.

Considering that about a hundred years ago, most people never saw meat, and well-to-do families would eat their "Sunday meat" once a week, one meatless day per week should be laughably easy to do.

Sadly, that proposition was refused indignantly here in Germany when it was brought up.
I can only imagine the meat industry is a gigantomaniac corporation that doesn't want to go out of business.

Add the fact that around 1900, the entire world's population was less than 2 billion individuals, and you can imagine just how much the consumption of anything has grown since the exponential growth set in.
