Spandex Tail for a Three Year Old

So I made my niece a tail for Christmas. It's kind of funny-looking because I made it just today and I figured she's gonna grow out of it and being just 3, she won't notice the flaws. :P

The black part is velcro that i added so she can get her feet out and walk in it if she wants to. It's only visible because the adhesive that I used needs to dry lol but I think it looks kinda just blah. I know she's going to love it, and it looks pretty much just like mine, but I like to put extra effort into the things I give to people.

Any ideas for what I can add to it to..I don't know..spice it up? Haha preferably something that I might have around the house because I don't wanna go spend money :P

So cute!!!! Maybe if you have any extra paints laying around you can add little patches of scales here and there, or rays on the fluke??

I thought about painting scales, but I think she really liked the sparkleyness on mine Haha so I decided I would just leave it. But I might do the rays, thanks for the suggestion!(:

Thanks! Once she gets older, I'll make her one with an actual monofin, but for now she doesn't even fit the kids' ones :P

So my sister and dad took my niece and nephew to the Aquarium of the Pacific (without me! ): lol) and had this picture taken. I didn't notice until yesterday that my niece was wearing her mermaid tail! Haha she doesn't like the velcro being in the front.
