What do you want to see in mer tops?

Shells are not very comfortable, or very covering. Bikini tops are nice, if you're confident in showing off your stomach. Good tankini tops are harder to find, and seldom look very 'mermaidy'. I'm working on designing alternative, relatively conservative tops, which I will start making sometime in the fall, for people who are more self-conscious but who still want to be mermaids. They will definately have a nautical flair, and so far I have designs based off of seaweed, coral, and fishing nets. However, I want to know what other people want to see as far as mermaid tops. Any suggestions or requests? Any ideas anyone would like to see done, but don't want to or can't do on their own?

A loose halterneck corset with the boning removed may work for more conservative merpeople. Decorated and dyed it could be really really neat. Maybe make it look as if its made out of seaweed.

I personaly want a either "tube top" type of thing which would be cool if someone made it in like scales or something, or like stated above halter tops.

Cydney's top is fab but Cydney you have a pretty flat tummy; I would not be brave enough to wear that. I love the top you made for me Kat, it is gorgeous, but almost every swimsuit top I have found shows too much cleavage and has too little support. I think I may make another top that is bra-based and add fabric to the bottom--that way I could have the support I need which swimsuit material does not give me.

You're sooo sweet! but noooo it is at flat as a ... sphere. I was going to say circles but they are flat -_- lol anyways my mom caught me at a good angle. In my other pics you can see that it covers most of my stomach! I bet you could make a longer one with the same idea and sew a bra in it!

My fave style is a underwire bra with fuller cups and wide straps. Nor have some sort of built-in bra or decent padding that isn't just a flimsy piece of fabric or foam cup. I want something more solid and sturdy!!
Which is why I've resorted to buying sports bras that I can cover with matching fabric.

And also the fact that I don't believe in paying A$120 for two small triangles and a pants that are barely there.
