How do you cut a Finis Wave??

I cut a notch out of my Rapid with scissors this morning.

I don't know if this will work on the Finis Wave, but for the Finis Competitor I used a Dremel to cut out the shape I wanted and then sanded it down after. I should work really well though considering plastic is MUCH easier to cut than fiberglass. If you want to try it out, I don't think the Dremel will be a wrong choice

On a side note, anyone know how to file down, cut off, do anything to get rid of those ridges too?

Sorry to bump but...Those monofin ridges seem soft enough to file down with a dremel to me...I've got a Finis Rapid monofin and I plan to cut it into a fish tail shape, but I'm still debating on which kind of hacking to do! Band saw? Heavy-duty cutters? DUNNO. Will post pics when I do!

its not really a wise idea but it is possable. The worst case it would mess with the way your able to swim in it. but its possable with a good sharp knife or blade.

I actually took the plunge and cut mine yesterday. My dad let me use his band saw, which cut it like butter, and then I sanded the edges with a dremel. Just be careful about the speed setting on the dremel because it can literally melt the Wave's plastic if you linger too long on one spot. The good thing is you can just pick it off. Still, I'd say keep it on a fairly low setting.


The best thing of all is that cutting my fin didn't compromise its power in the water at all. I can still swim very fast with it (well, fast in my mind. I bet that other monofins can propel you a lot better than this one).
