Wait you can't design your own fluke?

  2. #242
I believe you can with the basic tail? I think they're just easy guidelines.

I did my design on one of the templates and send it to Raven for future reference

You can design your own fluke with both. The basic tail there's no additional fee, but if you want to design your own fluke for performance fluke it's extra since she has to sculpt and make a brand new mold.

So cool that she posted those up! She knows us mers love to design tails!

It was really hard for me to chose between the Angler and Classic fluke shape... I ended up asking 10 of my friends and 9/10 said classic would look better on me than the angler. Plus I asked Raven and the classic is the largest one, so that sold me XD I love big flukes and I cannot lie! You other fishes can't deny.. *dances*

If i could afford a performance tail, I would totally go for the classic fluke! I'm in love with it! So bad I can't have it on my basic tail

If you can design your own fluke on the basic tail, why can't you have a classic fluke? I don't understand that part.

You can design it's SHAPE, to an extent, but she has specifically stated that you can't change the texture of the basic fluke.

As for adding the cast fluke on a basic body- Basically what I said in this post is true. Remember the reason the basic tails are so cheap is because she casts the scales thin and uses much less silicone on the whole tail, and makes up for the thickness with the neoprene. You can't cast the flukes thin like you can the scales because of the great difference in depth of the shape. You have to cast it thick, and to do that more silicone is more money. Theoretically if you got a tail like like that, for all the extra money you'd have to pay for it you may as well get a performance tail. Plus to her it's probably not worth all the trouble and headache in having trying to make a performance fluke with a basic body. Just putting on the extra fins on a basic body were so much of a pain she discontinued that option, so I can't imagine trying to do that with a fluke. In the end it's just not worth it to her or to the customer to have that option.

I just want to clarify because we have been getting this a LOT lately, but we are NOT able to put the performance flukes on the Basic tails. I really appreciate the great feedback on the new fluke design but it is only an option for the performance tails. This is one of the main reasons why the performance tails are much more expensive than the basic tails. Please keep this in mind when designing your tail from us ♥

Yep, I asked her before in my order, and therefore it's not possible; But She'll be happy to paint the fluke the same way as possible as a 'merbellas' fluke

Does anyone have a basic Merbella tail? I'd love to see some pics/videos of them. All I've seen so far are the performance tails.

Thanks! II did see most of those but I kinda wanted to see customer photos so I can see what the seams look like. For instance the last 2 photos you posted, the 1st one, you can't really see that seam toward the end of the tail, but in the customer photo, you can. Rarely do tail makers show you the seams in their photos.

Actually, a bunch of those photos were seam side that Iona posted. Raven doesn't edit out seams in her photos. I think it just depends on the light how they show up or not. I know mine has only ever shown up in a handful of photos and I never edit out the side seam. I think she's grown in hiding seams since the first few basic and performance tails too

I didn't mean to imply that she was editing the photos. Yes the lighting makes a huge difference. Also alot of tail makers show the front of the tails but not the back where they seam it up. It's ok, they all want to show their tails in their best light. I had a raven tail for a short time and she is amazing at hiding seams on performance tails. I just haven't seen much customer photos of the basic tails and curious if they are just as good and it can be hard to tell from photos.

I'm getting a bit crazy now. Counting the days my tail would be finished xD still 104 days to go... Can someone post some videos from basic tails in action? <3

Mine is side seams They are hardly visible and look natural- any imperfections make it look MORE realistic (no living creature is symmetrically perfect!) I promise to post pictures soon! XD
