Doubtful. Craft heat guns (what most people tend to use) have a heat range between 482F (250C) and 662F (350C). With a hair drier burns happen at 140 or higher, so they are lower than that. I know it's another expense, but if you have a tail that needs to be heat set and needs repairs, it's an investment.
