Another One Bites the Dust: Best Indoor Pool in Arlington TX Bans Tails

Hugh Smith rec, the deepest indoor in Arlington, has banned Monofins in open swim. Lap swim only. I could understand if it was because they might hit someone in the face, but the reason? The breath hold thing. Argh!!!! I wanted to go off on a mermaid rant but I resisted the urge. Wouldn't change the rules to bitch at the lifeguards. Siiiigh!
Once upon a time I was known as Seavanna. Going by Seatan these days. I always wanted to be the high lord of underwater hell.

    Oh boo, that's a bummer
Maybe you can try reasoning with them? Show them how well you can swim and get a pass?

Sorry to hear that, it must be frustrating!

It really gets to me the breath holding thing. How people think swimmers train?
What if I was not wearing a monofin? Would they say I am not allowed to swim under water? It is so ridiculous!

Oh, that must be so frustrating, Seavanna. Things like this are absolutely ridiculous. I have never had a problem at any pool with my tail. At most, I'll get a warning to swim where there's not too many people, or to be careful with my fluke (not to hit anyone), but that's standard etiquette, I feel. Most of the time the lifeguards get a kick out of seeing a mermaid in the pool. And Talia, you hit the nail right on the head there.

That really sucks. I hate hearing when this happens and also over a reason that dose not make sense to me.

Because we're not holding our breath in the laps lanes? See, that makes me think it actually IS the the risk of hitting someone with our flukes when it's busy. I would continue to go there, use the lap lanes, and see how things play out.

That's irritating when I get my monofin that's the pool I was going to go to but I guess that's no longer in the cards.

I dunno, sounds like grasping for convenient straws to get fins out of open swim.

    That said, lapswimming isn't bad.
I'd be glad if fins were allowed in lapswimming here, but they're banned almost everywhere.
