I signed my gift knowing that others kept theirs secret. I slipped in a little handwritten note and I decided that putting my name on it would look much nicer than 'Secret Santa'. It's really about personal preference :)

If there is a legitimate reason as to why someone's gift could not be sent out on time and the sender notified the admin about this along with working out a new reasonable deadline, would there be any penalty for the late ship? Even with it being maybe a day or two off?

Sorry dudes, I'm sending mine out late because of my insane work schedule. My boss randomly peaced out to go on vacation I've had to take his shifts. I've had to work everyday except Sunday, and at least 11 hours per day for two weeks. I'm flippin' exhausted! I literally have not had any time available to make it to the post office during business hours. I finally have a day off on Wednesday and I will ship it then! The package doesn't have very far to go, and I feel terrible about missing the deadline so I plan to upgrade to priority mail.

I'm late for shipping and I'm losing sleep over it so let me explain why. I ordered what I thought was the perfect gift a few weeks ago. The seller said they were from Victoria, B.C., so I thought it would arrive by last week. I've been checking tracking like crazy, and it turns out the seller completely lied about their location! My gift is shipping from Ukraine, the tracking is poor and I'm so worried. It should've come in last week, I am so outraged that someone would lie about their location like that! I emailed the secret Santa email this morning explaining the same thing hoping there would be some understanding. I hope everyone understands, I'm so anxious over this and I just want it to get here and be over with.

It is a resin keychain (made before my tail was finished, so very close and the perfect shade of blue)

And handmade, mermaid scale, fingerless gloves!

I'm SO happy that they arrived safely! I was waiting with baited breath the entire time they were in transit, subjected to the mercy of the trade winds. :phew:
I was especially worried that one of the seahorses poor little horns would be broken and sad... So very happy that's not the case. It makes me even more happy that they've been well received!!!! -swims in small circles- My sense of smell isn't the greatest so its good that the incense wasn't too strong or anything. I'm confused, why weren't we stricter on te shipping date this year? I was looking through the past threads and it seemed as if the majority of mers were able to get their gifts out on the date. Just curious, this was my first year doing Secret Santa :)

There's a bunch of reasons :)

Mainly - this year's SS is a lot earlier because we put into account that there would be a hold up with customs (especially with international gifts) and that there will always be people that would be late (just the nature of some people), so there's a lot more leeway. As long as you are in contact and you're "on it" there isn't as MUCH of a problem. Also when the first year's names were posted some people put up a big stink about it. I haven't seen that recently and I don't think it should be a big deal - if you commit to this and don't follow through, why wouldn't we be able to call you out on it? But that's just my opinion.

In previous years the biggest problem was people quitting MN and forgetting they had a SS. By keeping the minimum post count up and the join date rule enforced and doing most of the "watching" on that part (+earlier date), I think we finally hit a good spot to ensure that doesn't happen. In the past I and a few other mermaids actually sent out extra SS gifts for the people who skipped out on their giftee. It's a lot of pull/push to get this event done right. Still working on it though, and always open to suggestions/improvement. :)

Ok, so as soon as the strike amongst our postal service people ended (yesterday) I got a notification that my gift has arrived! So I rushed straight to postal office to get it. It was all in one piece and not harmed in any way :)

So, Keiris, you gorgeous-eyed handsomer, just oh my god...

It is so clear that you have spend time and thoughts to put this gift together, it just so amazingly beautiful, everything was so nicely decorated all, they were almost too beautiful to open. (next season of secret santa I'll definitely improve my packagings too, didn't even realise before this how wonderfully they affect on ones mind). All the colors, sparkle... ahh... I just have to show it to you guys :D

This is what I saw first, there were small snow flakes falling from the letter when I opened it, too lovely <3

And the gifts ( there were three!) I can't decide which one was my favourite, they are all so perfect.. I'll start with the mermaid soap, had to take a photo of the packaging too, it was so gorgeous :)

Then this, a christmas ornament to my tree, this was so full of perfection I can't even describe, I actually have been quite sad cause I have never had any special ornament to put on the christmas tree. I don't know why, but it have seemed that everyone else have had some kind of special ball or toy character. I even bought a glitter fairy last christmas, but it just doesn't feel the same.. Now I finally have a special thing to put on my tree, something that includes a lovely memory and happy feelings, so it has lots of sentimental value already :)

Then finally the jewel of this collection. In last package there was this beautiful sterling silver necklace. I think the center is made of abalone shell. I love love love this thing, it was exactly correct length too! Wearing it at the moment :)

So, this has been really one of the best presents I have ever gotten, it feels so good to get something from a person you haven't ever even met, and still get something so thoughtful and kind. I don't even have enough adjectives to describe how much I love everything in your gift...

So, funny story... I got a PM from my Secret Mer-Santa today, since she was worried that I hadn't gotten my gift yet. Turned out whatever she'd ordered for me was made-to-order, and she told me that it was still in progress but that it should be mailed out to me soon!

I get off work, walk home, and there's an Attempted Delivery Notice stuck to my door! I'm like "Okay, that's weird, I didn't order anything, Drunk-Tieri didn't order anything stupid to surprise Sober-Tieri with, and my Mer-Santa gift apparently hasn't been shipped out yet. I'm not expecting anything!" So, off to the post office I go.

SURPRIIIIIISE, it's my Mer-Santa gift from Mermaid Kelda! <3 A GORGEOUS clam shell coin purse, in my colors! I'm gonna keep it in my bag to store my work tips in. :P

I'll put my seahorse up in my study:) And my crustacean friend has a nice home with many other plush sea animals!
I am so busy these days with performing and running our business that I don't get to interact with the community (both in person and digitally) as much as I would like.
But this makes me feel so included and part of something.
