That would look beautiful as a barrette! I LOVE it when a Micheal's worker asks me what I am getting stuff for. I think the last time a worker asked me I was working on a final project where I made an upper body packing tape dummy of myself and in between layers of tape I put sequins and I stuffed the inside of the dummy with colorful fabric and then I put dresses over the form that were attached with Velcro and were meant to be pulled off. It is always interesting watching the worker's eyes widen as you explain your elaborate art project to them. I love being an artist because I can just use that as an excuse for my weirdness.

Nearly ripped my tail, and caused a massive wardrobe malfunction. He was also gripping my fluke tightly while in deep water, so I was frantically windmilling my arms to keep my head above water.

Fortunately the little kids at this pool take polite interest and then leave me alone.

Though yesterday some little kids pointed out the real mermaid and the dad chuckled, saying we were not real.
His kids insisted we were and his rebuttal was that mermaids would not need eye protection, so we used the chlorine as an excuse :)
He laughed happily and said that he stood corrected.


Later, while I was scooting to another pool a mom pointed us out to some very little girls. Just then I got the most intense charliehorse ever and laid there laughing maniacally while trying to ride it out.

(It wasn't that it tickled, I just laugh at inappropriate times >.>)

TAMW the tail actually nearly FITS you (the tail easily went around me; it was just too short!).

I love my family! They have been so patient with, and excited about my efforts to lose the weight and eventually don my tail! it's been fun to include them in my adventure and have kept me going when I felt like throwing in the towel. There once was a young maiden by the name of Alea. She was traveling across the sea in a ship to live with her wicked-step father. As they drew closer to the rocks, near the shore, a sudden summer storm blew up. Through the rain and mist, everyone saw a mermaid sitting on the rocks, singing her haunting sirens songs. Suddenly a big wave threw the ship against the rocks, and it broke up, sinking to the bottom of the sea. All of the crew were lost, except Alea who managed to catch a hold of a floating plank and keep her head above water. All of a sudden it grew quite, the storm was over as fast as it started. As Alea turned her head she saw a golden tail splash into the water, and before she could blink, up came a beautiful mermaid. Her eyes shone like stars, her hair was golden like the sun and her body was like a shimmering pearl. But where her legs should have been Alea could see part of a golden tail.
"Welcome to my kingdom," said the mermaid. "I've been so lonely and wished hard for a sister and now my wish has come true." As Alea looked into the mermaids mesmerizing eyes, and she saw the goodness shinning through. The little mermaid took Alea by the hand and showed her all the wonder of her kingdom under the sea. I was trying to not make it obvious I was itchy, and pretend to adjust my swimsuit and dig in deep giving it a one scratch. But my one piece swimsuit, there is nothing to adjust in the chest area as I made it a full coverage one. In the end, I just swam to the boom in the middle, dipped underwater, faced the boom and scratched!

11 feet of swimming pool?? That is so awesome!!!

I only have 2.08m to "dive". Though I'm the only one allowed to swim under all the lanes and hang off the ropes, I don't get in trouble. And they know that I can't see far distances, and HAVE to cross lane traffic just to read the tiny clock on the other side of the pool. I also love doing the dead fish trick, where I dive to the bottom, turn around and float up facing the surface.

TAMW one finally gets to use the skills one has been practicing all along, when the boys don't put the lane ropes back in, and there is "open swimming" in the other 25m half of the pool. And its so crowded. So am dodging and turning and barrel rolling along to avoid crashing in other swimmers and side jumpers. What a workout!!!

"oh that! No I didn't get one atall as I thought it through and it all ended up being too childish and immature for my image. Please tell me you don't still do that?!"

TAMW you go to the newly opened campus pool with friends, ask if they allow mermaid tails and end up having to wait over an hour with your fins crossed 'cause the lifeguard can't get a hold of the manager.
Eventually he gets in contact with him and we get the go ahead, we just have to reserve space in the future. :yay:

TAMW you and your friend put the tails on and start swimming in said pool, and staff members start to ask questions and take photos of the campus mermaids.
Today went from stressful to hilarious real quick! :lol:

Happened to me before. Fortunately, I have a plan B. The trick to handling this awkward moment is to have at least three ideas.

How about this for an awkward moment:
A few of the Kelpstock team and I were driving to Titan Con (on a school campus) we were utterly lost. When we spot someone dressed as Sailor Moon! We immensely go up to her and ask her were the event was; because she was dressed up she was obviously going there.
Well she ends up getting into our car and showing us the way, she shows us how to get there and we thank her and tell her to come to our panel on Mermaiding 101. Which she was already planing on attending!!

Later that day, we see Sailor Moon at our panel and ask her to be our random person from the audience to try on a tail!
All in all a fun day but some silly moments!
