Wow, that video's pretty cool. Both the story and the effects are pretty impressive.

As for if its the future, I think that's a worst case scenario but parts of it are probably correct. I think augmented reality glasses will catch on (but not implants), and I don't think it will be as widely used or as advanced as it is in the video, at least not for a while.

That's pretty crazy! I wouldn't mind having a countertop or something that could show me how to cook better (I'm always looking things up so I can make my meals), but implants? A dating app? Yikes. :-S It also bothers me that he needed affirmation in everything. He couldn't do things (e.g. cutting the cucumber) and feel pride in himself, he had to have the app telling him "Good!" "Great!" etc. I really hope those growing up today won't have that sort of dependence on external motivation.

...And I wonder if that "artwork" on his wall was any cheaper than buying an actual print? If not, what's the benefit in buying it digitally instead? More display options? Less storage? I never was big on buying virtual stuff...

Cool short film! I like how it showed different sides of the concept.

Just so you know, they're already working on this type of stuff for the public! Basically they made glasses with a projector on it. However they had the issue that it was too close to the eye, so the brain would just ignore the images becuase it couldn't focus on it correctly. Their latest step was that they made contacts that fixes that! So basically the contacts let you see the images projected onto the glasses. They said the military has had some use of this already, and they're trying to open it up for the public! Mainly things like video games. I wouldn't want it to be a part of life ALL the time though, like how it was depicted in the video. Glasses that I can take off though? I'm okay with that.

Also just saying that I don't like how both videos basically treat people like their brain dead and can't think for themselves. Though if we had that technology we might end up that way. You don't use it, you lose it. It's already happening.. people with "popcorn brain" (http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/06/23/tech.popcorn.brain.ep/index.html). You don't retain information as well because you know you can just google it and find it in an instant. You don't remember people's phone numbers because your cell phone does it for you. You may not recall how to drive somewhere you've been a few times before because you rely on your GPS. Things will only get worse as things develop unless people make an effort to get ahead of that kind of thing. Thus the need to be able to step away from/put down/turn off the devices and just LIVE.

I liked it up until the last second. Up until the last second, the augmented reality was ever present without being the focus, and although the guy worked for them, it was no weirder than if you meet someone who works at Google. They were everyday people, in an everyday situation.

Until the end, it was also pretty believable. As soon as mind-control enters, it feels too far-fetched.

Lastly, up until that last moment, it all had a bit of a creepy vibe, but in a way that felt like you could imagine one day being used to all of it. As soon as the date-rape happens, it feels like a cautionary tale about the dangers of technology.

That said, it was cool and I liked it.

wow, thats kind of scary. i have to agree with winged mermaid, i dont like how they treat people as though they are brain dead. a mistake when chopping cucumber these days doesn't matter, but will our life be so controlled in the future that everything has to be perfect? :O

But I'd get paranoid, and I'd get confused with so many things flashing in front of me XD.
If such a future is what awaits us, I'm gonna stay on the wild side. I like technology, but not THAT much.
