Thank you, yes I make them. I'm currently amassing enough to open an Etsy store so I have a variety to show, although I will take custom orders! I will sell them for $50 + shipping to start. PM me if you'd like to be my first customer! You can see some of my others on my Facebook. I make both dry and wet event tops and each has a matching hair accessory.
I also make sequinned corsets and can add color coordinated net halter straps. :)

This is my first top I've made. Took me about 3 days just waiting for glue to dry in between processes. It's made from a bra, real lions paw clamshells (which are pretty heavy), beads, pearls, colored rhinestones, Swarovski crystals, shells necklaces, a sand dollar charm and a bunch of E6000. It originally matched my first tail that fell apart before I even used it, so I'm not sure how it's going to hold up in the water, but I'm pretty confident in E6000s strength. Well see, my new tail should be here in about a week.ok well, seems like I can't figure out how to upload a photo, lol. It can't be this hard

Edit: the corset wasn't totally closed because that would have taken an assistant and my pirate was sleeping when I took the pic. I made a corset instead of a top because I figured the extra coverage would help keep me warm. Nope, haha, I froze my gills off!!

I'm going to be a mermaid at the Grand Junction Renaissance Faire and I made this top. Shells from dollar tree, spray glittered, old bra that the underwire came out of, and yarn to hold the shells onto the bra. No glue. I may add some more things but I wanted to keep it simple.

Fishing line can be used as a transparent "thread" or you can also buy heavy duty clear thread at fabric/craft stores (but it's essentially the same thing, so you can price-check to see where it's cheaper)

I really enjoy looking at other mer-folks deaigns! I recently made my first top. I used resin to cast the sea shells. I found that sea shells them self were heavy when I put many on the top. I also cast a seahorse out of resin for the 'center piece'. I painted it to look like a rainbow seahorse -my favorite! I am in the process of making a top from seaweed in silicone. I'll post a picture when completed.

This is my self made she'll top. Bra base with real lions paw and fishnet halter straps. The fishnet tends to cut into my collar bone if I wear it for too long. I prefer shell tops, but am still working on a halter strap design that doesn't cut into the skin. It's a work in progress.

It's supposed to majorily rest on the bra itself which keeps it away from skin for the most part, but if it's in a position that can brush against you, it can be very scratchy.

I have several pairs of the chicken cutlet adhesives, and the only thing is that if you sweat a lot, the adhesive loosens up but the sweat pools inside them LOL but they are rinse-able!

I knew nothing about this world and when I googled how to get started I discovered this incredible community with a crazy mix of designs and methods! Started my new top the other day and got a lot done on it today! :) I'm using E6000, black scallop shells I found on the beach that I adore and always pick up, sea glass, pearls (white, light blue, and gold), and those aquarium tank bead things (I got the big bag of them for .79 cents at a craft store haha). Oh and this irridescent glitter I found at Walmart that matches my tail!!! :) It looks really cool in person because the bra is tan so when the glue and glitter dries it just looks like irridescent skin! =D So excited to finish this one! :)) We're gonna go get aquarium plants soon for my headpiece and other stuff. ;) <3

What's the adhesive you're using for the pearls? If it's not e6000 then trying that might help you out some. It's held up pretty well for me- but some decoration loss tends to be common even with e6000 since it's sometimes hard to tell how much adhesive to use for each detail.

Awhh thank you so much!! Yeah i used e6000 for most of it, and a hot glue gun for some stuff. Its held up pretty well, but i think most of the loss is just from normal wear and tear. Plus i dont think i glued down the fake leaves very well in the first place, but overall its held up quite nicely! It definitally took a few trial and errors before i was able to have a bra that didnt pop off from the weight of the shells!

Hot glue will not hold up in water, use e6000 and make sure you allow it to cure properly

To answer your question: No hot glue does not hold up well underwater.

My abalone top!!! I used pearlex rubbed into the shells and then sealed eith a clear spray paint! Hard to see, in fact might add more later, i brushed out some twine and added it to the outside edges!

My first mer-top! Its lily pads and net with some sparkles and plastic plants :) i finished it last night and im wearing it tomorrow at the pacific coast mer fest!
