No, if you don't want purple, I will eliminate any purple from the palette. I have some colorchanging pigment that is blue and aqua from one direction/light source and shifts to show a purple sheen from another, but I can take them out if you want no purples at all.

(I simply can't wrap my head around not wanting purple, though. Yes, I am one of THOSE purple people.)

Sometimes a bit of another color (like in this case purple) brings out the main color as stronger (blue), than if you only had one solid color.

By the way... I found some blue glow in the dark pigment that glows pretty nicely...I don't imagine you would be doing much night swimming and the glow is kind of subtle, but I think it would be nice in the relevant areas of the top, side spots and fluke.

What do you think?

I tried playing with the Pearlie Mae tail template.

Unfortunately, I do not have the right color markers >.> nothing I had was pale enough or blue enough.

The only thing I think that really works is the merbra.

I couldn't get the fluke to work right, or have the pattern look as good as it did on my friend's drawing...

I also may have done it wrong. The outline dips into the pink in places...

(The general outline and shape is confounding me)

No changes really, just putting down on paper what we have discussed all along.

(I am aware the moons face different directions on the "front" and "back" I was checking to see which was better. I like them facing in.)

Not to worry, sealing the scales together is nearly the last thing to do, and if you are really worried, you can send a revised tape dummy. Since my tails are thinner than most, the silicone stays really stretchy and should be comfortable regardless of weight fluctuations!

Swimming in Hawaii is absolutely magical in real life, though :) I dived with my competitor and saw with kids as a mermaid and nearly cried because I was so happy :lol:

I added blue pieces to my renfaire garb.
Now I have a walking outfit for Aysun and I look like a giant magpie.
(Blue shirt, white over dress, black over skirt, blue under skirt, black corset)

I also recently noticed that most tails have flukes that are the main body color instead of the lighter accent. That and the eyespots will make my tail really stand out above in beyond the way it already does.

I can hardly wait to hold it up to the sky and watch the light stream through...

Did you want a bluer belly? If it's too white, I can change it. Adding the dorsal stripe will also bring the blue around to the front a little more, so I can get the spots down your sides.

I just don't want to be a giant pest. Resetting all those scales is a lot of time/effort.

Having the blue come around the sides a bit more with things being scooted by the stripe sounds lovely!

The white is really pretty and I love the blue shift, just like moonstone. I think once the stripe is in and the belly is less wide it will be just right.

(And I need the white for my magpie-y-ness)

Girl, I've changed my mind about my tail's colours something like five times now. I don't know how many scales our dear Pearlie has poured/placed that aren't even going to be in my tail by the end product, but it's a lot I'd wager. In short, you're doing better than me so don't worry yourself :P

That's why it's so good that Pearlie is doing well selling the scale pendants, otherwise she'd have wasted as TON of silicone. It's so expensive, I applaud Pearlie for going with the amount of changes you've done without raising the price.

I'm sure you're fine, Aysun. I'm not Pearlie but everyone who's ever commissioned anything for this much knows that you want to be sure you get exactly what you wanted. You haven't changed your design really. Just reminded and made sure you're getting what you paid for.

Pearlie this is looking awesome! I can't wait to see the fluke and the glowy bits!!

Having the dorsal stripe was/is very important to me, but rescaling the whole belly is not so important. The white is very pretty and since the edges will be moved in from the addition of the stripe and the pale mottling of light blue and white will be on the upper side instead of the side side (also accommodating the glow spots) (when I say upper side and side side, I mean if it were oriented as though I were sitting in it) I think the white in the middle will be just beautiful.

Sorry, it's been a tough few days...it's finally getting to seem like summertime (now that it's about half over!) and it's been a heatwave the last few days. Silicone acting squirrely in this humidity, plastilina melting in my hands...so I turned to cutting monofins, but my neighbors were annoyed that I was running power tools at night (sound really carries on a lake).

I'm making progress and want to post things, but I get too busy/sticky/aggravated to pick up the camera!

I'm resetting the new scales into your dorsal stripe (which means I have to shift the bulk of the scales to accommodate), and creating the vector image template for the fluke. I'm pretty much doing the same for Kelda's tail, except making the fin templates instead of the fluke, as I already have her mold.

Once I get home from the office, every night I'm putting in at least four to six hours on these tails, and twelve hours a day on the weekends. I promise, I am moving as fast as I can, I want to finish these as badly as you want me to!

I really hope to have them both finished and shipped by the end of August!

It's been alright, here...I spent the weekend resetting all the scales, the belly scales have been brought in, I've eliminated a couple hundred teal scales that weren't really fitting in anymore, cast a couple hundred very dark scales for the darker dorsal area. I'm finishing setting them all tonight, I'll photograph it in the morning. It's very magpie without the teal scales. I think you're going to like it. :)

I'm building the fluke on a 27 x 40 board, and then I'm sculpting side pieces for the trailing bits, so I can make those as long as you want, but I'm thinking about a foot, foot and a half beyond the tips of the fluke.

Yes, the moons will glow!

I was thinking of that galaxy effect I did on Kelda's test fin for the dark parts of the moons, deep blue veins (with sparkley stuff!), and pale bluish-white for the translucent areas between the veins...possibly with iridescent organza for shimmer... What do you think?

Yes, I have organza in my fluke, but I also have white. I'll make a prototype test patch before I cast the fluke, for your approval...there will be lots of magpie magic in the fluke!

I was working at faire and they had moved the lagoon to the entire other side of faire, so I was sprinting around trying to find it and get ready.
So when I do find it, there is no backstage or fence to get changed behind.
Then I belly crawl into a strange new building, only to find out that all the food it cursed and now I am being haunted by a grudge-type creature :|

My dreams are always rescuing people from burning buildings, runaway aerial tramways, or running around backstage at a concert and I can't find the stairs to get onstage.

The one recurring mermaid dream I've had was that I was riding in a limo with Sting on the way to Madison Square Garden. He tells the driver to pull over at one of the piers on the West Side Highway, where he proceeds to get out of the car and jump into the Hudson River. I am so angry that I am going to have to get my red silk dress wet rescuing him (there's a theme here, huh?), and I swim down to the bottom of the river where he's sitting cross-legged on the riverbed, green shafts of sunlight dancing all around.

I yell at him that we are going to be late, he's supposed to be onstage in half an hour, but he says 'No! I won't come up until you show me your true self!'

I think 'great...I'm going to lose my only pair of pretty shoes that go with this dress because Sting wants to see my mermaid tail'...I transform, and it hurts (I think in my bed, I get a cramp in my back at this point), and he smiles and says "Okay, we can go now" as he reaches out a hand to touch my tail as I glide by him.

We swim to the surface, he climbs out and I'm mad because my dress is wet and my shoes are gone. The dream fades, but not before I am running around backstage with Sting, trying to find the stairs to the stage, in a wet red silk dress, and barefoot.
