Some friends of mine are doing this movie competition, and
A)They've made it through the first round of voting (EEEE!)
B)They've asked me to do artwork for one of the contest entries (double EEEE!)
I haven't drawn seriously in about ten years, so I've been sketching like a madwoman to get my skills back up. I feel like I'm level grinding in an RPG, except I'm actually enjoying it. :D

I'm excited; I get to go to the Nihon Matsuri festival this weekend! So I'll be able to meet up with some old friends. It's been a few years since I've been able to go, and this also allows me to go check out fabric stores in person later on, too. :P

Well my best friend of nearly 10 years now knows about my mermaid stuff and she kicked my ass for not telling her sooner.
Then she told me she partly knew cause she had accidentally found my tail designs and thought they were awesome and wishes she was a good swimmer so she could join me! It's been a pretty good week.

I bought my first tentree shirt yesterday. they gave me a code to register online that tells me where they're planting my trees and what kind.
10 Acacia trees will be planted in ethiopia. and then they gave me an info graphic on ethiopia and a yearly calendar of when they schedule planting, when rainy season is, etc.
the code they gave me is a piece of metal that i plan on collecting and making either tiny ornaments for a christmas tree or a bracelet... or little trinkets to hand in my computer room. not sure what to do with it yet *o*

EEEEEE! I'm so happy! I finally got the hang of this mermaid swim style! When I went for my weekly swim yesterday, I did spins! I didn't have to think, "Have to do this" or any other doubts, I just got in the water and started rolling my body. I did spins from both sides, from right side and from left side. It felt so natural. I went under all the lanes when nobody but me was there. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!
The next step for me, is practicing breath hold. I haven't been practicing breath holding much. I just go with whatever I have. I'm assuming with more swimming the breath holding gets better?

I have been feeling the pressure of being broke all year! now I think I finally got some good news! Next semester, I got a call back from art director, they're looking for nude models. I know some people will roll their eyes at it, but money is money and I'll be making $12.25/hr.
Nude art modeling is nothing to roll eyes at. I did it when I was in college, back in the dark ages, and made $20 an hour. So don't settle for $12.50!
And it is NOT easy! Holding poses can be very difficult! Good luck!
Yeeeees. Ok like I did clothed (tailed?) art modeling and was sore the next day. Mad flippin props to peeps who do that as a regular job.

When I was in college we had a few nude models for my life drawing courses. I always wondered if they ever got cold staying frozen in those positions for so long. Momo, I hope they don't put you under an air conditioning vent. But then I guess you could bring in that crochet mermaid tail/blanket that everyone loves to send you pics of...:lol:Quote:
