OMG that new tail. I just can't even.
For my last top it was 8-9 months I guess.
That tail. I remember when. It was just a sketch. So cool. Dorsal fin with eye.
Wake. Your avatar. Gorgeous too! Hey, I'm starting to get the hang of this not-completing-sentences thing all the cool kids are doing! :cheerleader::mermaid kiss:

It is the hardest tail I have ever swam in. No kick. So much drag. Looks beautiful, but I kept thinking I was gonna die because it was hard to come up for air. And I've been at this 7 years.. lol
What is the monofin in the fluke?
Starting to get concerned....last time I heard from raven was March 10th when I decided to upgrade to a blended waist. Emailed them at the end of May for a progress report (my quoted time was 200 days and I emailed them on day 150) and never heard back. Emailed them a couple days ago in order to confirm my colors/design/measurements before production started and haven't heard back yet. It feels like they only communicate with me when money is involved for them. Getting me nervous man. Someone reassure me that its all going to be ok. :(
Peep! Me to! Waiting for an answer aswel. I'm over 9 months now. Fun fact: was checking the (ophella?) tail mesurments and these are exact my size!!

Just got a replay! ❤️
YOU GOT A REPLY???
It does just take patience. They don't communicate much until they're working on your stuff directly and even then communication is pretty infrequent. That said they do read everything you send and take it into account in your design. My tail took quite a bit longer than the originally quoted 200 days too. Ended up in my hands at roughly 425 days or so (i did the two day saver shipping...expensive but i was ready for the tail to just be here). To be fair, about 45 days of that was repainting as I had a hard time accurately communicating the colors I intended which didn't become totally clear to Raven or I until she sent the final photos of the original paint. It was beautiful but needed some tweaking. Best thing to do is sit back, breathe deep, and just focus on other stuff until you start hearing from them. It isn't that they only communicate when cash is involved, it's that she puts so much focus into production she doesn't get much time to reply to email until it is pertinent to what she is crafting at that time.
^^^that's basically the same inner struggle I felt during my wait. I promise it is worth it, ladies!!
Yeah tell me about it! :D haha! I mentally stated for myself my tail would be finished at october. - a full year of waiting. After seeing other tails passing by :)
I think you're ok to keep asking. I know Raven finally got her new laptop and has been playing catch up. The warning is more for people who asks every day the whole time lol. It's ok when you're waiting that long to keep sending requests every once in a while. Heck, Im at the point where clients are sending a message just to get to the top of my emails. lol and it helps me when they do!Quote:
Ive waited 304 days so 10 months and a day but I still hate asking for updates, I don't want them to feel rushed, you know? But it definitely tests my patience, especially when it's finally swimming season :P
Haha. Watching people on <200 days and 9 months getting anxious about the wait. I just kinda sit here and remember Mermaid Michelle has been waiting since last February. You've got the patience of a saint ^_^
Felicia is probably the closest to my wait time (330), and the knowledge that my tail still hasn't been started is kinda hitting me now. I'm pretty much ready to have it but I know the design still needs a bit of work so I'm forcing myself to be patient. If I get it by late September (beginning of Spring here) I'll be happy.
Day 243 here but my design is all finalized :) just waiting on production <3 FYI for anyone interested the tail I have now (Merbella Basic w/Competitor upgrade) will be up for sale once I have my new tail in hand.
Yes!! How on earth do the does that? :p :D It's full summer season here (and having a good summer for once. Belgian weather is shitty sometimes) So i'm getting really curious about my tail. But that's normal I guess. :p I'm happy now I know where my tail is stated somwhere. ❤️ 277 Days
Hey Arella - PM me! I'm interested in your current tail.

Its just a hard balance. On the one hand, I want to give the company as much time to do what they need to do creatively to create a high quality tail. After all, I wouldn't want something I've invested several thousand dollars in to come out bad because I rushed production. I want a fantastic tail (and I know I'll get that from Merbellas). I also know that its a small production workforce and that there is only so much that can be done with two people who are also performers. In no way do I think she's slacking off at all...she's probably working her fins to the bone!
On the other hand, I think about how I would feel with any other service where one timeline was given to me at the start but then that quoted time exceeded when it came to actually doing it. Especially any service as expensive as this. I haven't exceeded my quoted time yet (198/200), and I don't mind going a bit over, but I also get worried when I see people who have been waiting much longer than me and theirs isn't even finished yet (though to be fair, I don't know what was originally quoted for them and if others have additional reasons that it has taken longer like changing designs).
Its just sort of a difficult situation. I'm trying to be patient and understanding. I do feel like a lot of it comes down to the communication. Every time I hear back I feel so much better...like I'm not just talking to an empty room somewhere haha.
EDIT: ANYWAYS...the new computer must have helped because she wrote back!! I'm confirming measurements tonight and she's nearly into production. I'm guessing it probably won't be done for the Renaissance festival season I work in september/oct...but maybe soon after that I hope! I'm glad I have my backup tail still from last year. Maybe there will be a mer-miracle and it will be done by my birthday July 22nd. Wishful thinking....
Thanks to everyone for their support. <3
I am very glad you have an update, Aurellia! I was quoted 200-300 days too and am on Day 518 now; just remember that Raven is an artiste!
Merci beaucoup for such kind words! :mermaid kiss: In answer to Ariel's question as to how I endure, whenever I feel a bit anxious I think about how much my life has changed since I first placed my order. A year and a half ago Raina didn't even know who I was and SeaGlass Siren was still saying "some mermaid I turned out to beeee". Now I consider Raina a treasured friend, SeaGlass Siren is so confident(?) that she's mugging for the camera and making the horns on her avy, and I have a number of other lovely friends (like Ariel) here on Mernetwork and on Facebook. I have had the honour of helping Raina win a traveling tank, I hope to meet SeaGlass Siren soon, and when at last my tail is constructed (provided I haven't been obliged to enter the cloistered life before then)....
Well, let's just say I hope to make a big ;) SPLASH!...With their help! :group hug:
I don't think I'll mention the count again until I reach Day 666; it will be over a month late for Hallowe'en, but it will fall on the Tin Anniversary (5-year) of the miraculous lifting of Snowmageddon, an ultra-blizzard that deposited over four feet of snow on London before breaking up on the third day...though it was predicted to last four days and dump six feet of snow and continued to do so just outside the city! :cthulhu:
Has anyone heard anything recently? I emailed her but didn't get a reply, which is fine, I'm just curious if anyone else has heard things?
I know she was busy this week with Weeki and I think Tyler is travelling or about to Travel? not sure. doesnt hurt to fire off another email tho
So here's some video of the she creature in action. It is sooo beautiful but very hard to use. The fluke is the biggest fluke she makes (and I'd honestly wager the biggest fluke on the market from a commercial tail maker) it only has a foil inside and that's how you get that nice floppy flow. But it is the heaviest tail she makes because of the fluke and this is one of the first ones she made with this design a while back so it doesnt have drainage like the new ones do. So it basically means there is a lot of drag. And it was very floaty in the salt water. I found it had no kick at all and I had to do a lot of upper body work. I panicked a few times underwater because I couldn't kick to get up for air. But as you can see all I do is stop moving and I float up really fast lol.
This is a beautiful and stunning tail. But we basically use it for photoshoots because it's too laborious for most gigs. I wouldn't suggest it for people looking to buy a tail for kid's parties, or for someone as their first tail (unless you got a comeptitor monofin in it and the drainage upgrade, then I think you'd be fine) but if you're a seasoned mer you'll probably be ok.

Also I'm curious, should I be doing a summary review of all these tails? lol. Just for reference in the review thread so people can compare flukes and fins and different dorsals etc
