I'm so seriously upset by the events in Ferguson Missouri. You should google it if you don't know. It's like a scene out of the hunger games over there. Like the police force has taken over and is doing illegal shit. It's sickening. But I have to spread the word. If nobody finds out, it's not going to get better. And currently all media is being BANNED from the city. So social media is the only way.

Right like something like that is going to magically disappear for the victim of the harassment. Seriously what has the world come to.

I am so ashamed that it's going on in my state, but unfortunately that is the mindset of a lot of people here. You know what's even worse? More than half of the rioters are people from OUT OF TOWN who are taking advantage of the looting. Wait, are you saying the police are the problem? Because holy crap no. Most of the town has gone crazy destroying stuff and burning stuff down and looting. And now they want the name of the policeman who shot the kid, like really? They just want to kill him. But I do agree, it's a horrible thing going on.

He murdered an unarmed teenager who posed him no threat simply because he thought black skin meant suspect! Of course they want the name of the officer. He needs to be put on trial for his crimes instead of letting it get swept under the rug like so many other crimes the police have committed against the public. There wouldn't be looting and riots if the police weren't taking violent action against what was originally a peacful protest. All of this is a direct result of police brutality. All of it.

Watching the news, they attached the press last night. Shot them with rubber bullets and launched smoke and bang grenades to prevent them from filming what the the solders were doing next as they marched on the citizens.

Sound like a lovely place to live.

actually, that's not entirely true. Yes what he did was horrible and wrong, and he should be put on trial. However, that does not give people of the town and out of town to come in an destroy the community. And it absolutely did not start out as 'peaceful'. The first night they looted a convienence store where it happened and then BURNED IT DOWN. that's not exactly peaceful. Oh and posed him no threat? The police officer went to the hospital after the incident for injuries. How did that happen if there was no threat? I'm not saying it's right that he killed the kid, but none of us were there when it happened. The police are trying to control the situation before more people get hurt and before the town is completely dress imaged.

WHAT?! They did not attack the press. The rubber bullets and TEAR gas, not smoke, were used against the mob in an attempt to control it. 13 people were arrested last night, 3 of whom were journalist who were again, taking advantage of the looting!

Please guys, don't make assumptions about the police or anyone if you don't know the full story.

We only know of events from the limited news we get. How far away are you?

Yes I know, I'm sorry I snapped a bit. Media coverage and story twisting in this country is infuriating. I'm about 3 hours away from them, but news travels fast around here. Plus most of the local media can get coverage out before they're shut down.

  9. #1829
3 hours away is pleanty of distance to get the information twisted. Just because you're in the same state as the issue doesn't mean you're the authority on it. And I'm not saying I am either, but our information obviously doesn't match up.

Personally, I don't trust media sources other than eye witness social media reports. For instance, here's a video of the friend that was involved and witnessed the whole thing first hand: http://flawlessxqueen.tumblr.com/pos...king-with-mike They were doing nothing wrong and there's no mention of the police officer having been injured.

In fact, have this link too: http://clehmentine.tumblr.com/post/94588451614 It breaks down what happened and has links to sources backing it up.

Ah but thats the problem with anyone posting media anywhere. How do you know theyre even telling the truth? Maybe they were doing something wrong (Im not saying they were but IF they were), do you really think the friend would come out say something like "oh yeah, we were doing drugs in the street and then injured a cop who shot my friend" No probably not because then he would be turning himself in for that. Also, regardless of what happened, that doesnt give anyone the right to vandalize and start looting 12 Businesses in the first night and burn down a convenience store. Personally, I would rather trust a local media or police report rather than someone on tumblr claiming they knew what happened.

  11. #1831
The tumblr link is only there because it provides it's own links and I'm on mobile so it would be difficult for me to do it myself. Either way, the original point was the vandalism/looting wouldn't have happened if there wasn't a protest to invade. There wouldn't have been a protest if the police hadn't murdered an unarmed teenager. And there wouldn't be a dead teenager if the police didn't racially profile people. I'm done talking about it.

Actually the police left the protestors alone during the first day when thats all it was; they stepped in when, as i already said, they started destroying businesses. And also for the racial profiling: How do you know thats even what happened? We do not know why that officer stopped the two young men. So i think its unfair to say thats why he did it.

  13. #1833
Obamas press statement just now felt so canned.

  14. #1834
Okay I'm gonna jump in here because I'm seeing that people are blaming the citizens for this. This is fully and wholly the fault of the police. The protesters did a peaceful protest at the police department and were met with violence. And then they started looting. and yeah, they had full reason to start looting and setting shit on fire. We've tried the peaceful protest shit and where does that get us? did it get us justice for any other black boy murdered on the streets by police? fuck no. So we done with that. We're gonna take what's ours, we want justice, we want there to be consequences for gunning down our little boys. And not to mention the police are shooting rubber bullets and giant as fuck wooden pellets at protesters who were sitting in the street on their knees with their hands up begging for them not to shoot. And they're shooting tear gas into people's backyards. So much anti-black hatred is coming out because of this, so many people are being hurt and tear gassed because we just want them to stop murdering us. And for other people (mostly white people) to stop making a mockery of ferguson (like how they took the hashtag #iftheygunnedmedown)

Also, the police shot a woman in the head last night and tried to blame it on a drive by done by black men

No one has the right to steal from and destroy other businesses in their community, thats just doing more harm than good. This only turned into a racial controversy because of people talking about it like that, like how you worded your post. Did the police use rubber bullets and tear gas. Absolutely. theyre trying to control the situation. What are you saying, the police should just let the people run ramped and destroy the entire town? That would be stupid for them not to mention failure of their duties as police officers. So no, this is NOT the polices fault entirely and its not the citizens faults entirely. No one know what happened for sure the day of the shooting. Simple as that.

It was always a race issue. They gunned down an innocent black boy just because he was black. He did nothing wrong, his only crime was walking while black. and to top it off, the left his body in the street in his own blood for hours. Also, ferguson is such a racial hot bed because it is really racially segregated. And the police, and apparently lots of Americans see black people as nothing but a bunch of animals, our lives aren't worth much to them, we're nothing but animals. and in the words of the wife of the police chief : "Feral". I'm tired of people saying we have no right to loot, to be pissed off, but yet they look at revolutions in turkey and other places around the world and are in full support of them and their looting. We're getting more support from Palestinians then people in our own country smh.

And if the police can fire rubber bullets and tear gas at the peaceful protesters sitting down, hands in the air, BEGGING not to be shot at, then why aren't they firing at the KKK that showed up hmm?

You dont know he was innocent. you do not know why that officer shot that boy. NONE OF US DO. also, the 'left his body there', no one has confirmed if thats even true. Its all rumors and outside assumptions of what happened. Im also confused as to why you keep saying "we" have the right to loot. This isnt about you or any of those other protestors. In the words of the 74 year old veteran who made it through the police line
Despite the divisive racial accusations being thrown around in the aftermath of the tragic shooting, Hoech says “the only thing that matters in all of this is that mother who lost her son.”
So they are mad because a policeman shot a boy from their town, okay thats fine. What doesnt make any sense at all, why would they loot and destroy businesses, thats just hurting the community more!

  20. #1840
okay because I have to explain this "we" is black solidarity. I am black, thus we use "we" when talking about anything to do with black people. Also, coming from all of the photos, videos, TESTIMONY from his friend who was walking with him and neighbors who saw, HE WAS INNOCENT.
Why do people always want to try and find a way to make a black boy out to be a criminal? Like he stole something/did something?
If this was a white man (like all the schools shooters) the media and everyone else would be blaming it on mental illness, you'd see his family and friends talking about how "he was kind and didn't seem the type" on the news. Is that what we got? NO. We have to rely on social media because the actual news doesn't care. (and they're blocking reporters from getting in or out of Ferguson)
Would you like to see posts from someone on the ground right now in Ferguson? He posts in full time, everytime something happens.
