Ah, see, I did wonder about that. However, they do have a right to pick out of the volunteers who they think is the best for the position. It isn't illegal, it's just stupid! :S

Ok here's something I need to bit*h about.

I was in charge of the mermaids at a FAMILY event. We were short on mermaids so we had to trust the judgement of the president of the event to bring in some people to fit the bill. He brought in a girl who he knew (apparently intimately) that was working down state with other mermaids. (I wont name any names). Everything was fine as I was there. I had to leave early for a family event and the other person in charge of the lagoon/mermaids would be there only two hours after me. Not a problem right? Well this mermaid that the president knew, took a 2 hour break! That was not allowed! she knew that. Then when she came back the president was kissing on her, rubbing ice all over her top half, and then picked her up and took her to the bar on the grounds. She was in tail and sitting on the bar drinking. She was even allowing people to do body shots off of her IN TAIL! Mind you this is a family event where all the little kids come to see the mermaids. And here she is in the bar, getting drunk, and acting inappropriately. I had to hear about this the next day. As this girl walked in she had an aire about her that said that she was victimized and made nasty comments about the people that confronted her with her performance.

I took it upon myself to email the other mermaids she was working with to discuss how she acted at a family event. If she were MY mermaid I would want to know if she acted unprofessional at a family event! I have not heard a word from them and I can only assume that when they confronted her about how she acted that she played the victim and they believed her. I just am so frustrated that I keep seeing her all over FB and people saying how good she is when all I have seen is the bad....

Here's my bitch. I jut did the math and I have approximately one hour per day (on average) of free time. That isn't accounting for meals or homework or getting ready to go to work/school. I'm working 40 hours this week and making a mere $365. Holy crap this is hard.

    Okay. First:

F my landlords, and cuss cuss swear swear my roommates. They want to stay here a few more years. I'm sitting here trying to deal with working a lot had having a lot of health complications from mold. Mold that could've been prevented if people listened to me, and the landlords actually took my concerns seriously. I expressed worry about the carpet being wet, they told us it was ground water and that it'd be fine after the big thaw, lol nope it was a busted pipe from the water draining out of the tub in the bathroom next door. Now the landlords don't get it, there is now mold, in and under the carpet, the padding, and the wall may have mold ON it, but we're pretty sure that the sheet rock and everything inside probably has mold too. Wiping it off doesn't make the problem go away.

Secondly, I don't like ignoring a problem. Ignoring it doesn't fix it. You and a person can be pissed, you can throw garbage at each other, but if you decide to ignore it and pretend it never happened, that garbage will still be there. You're just stepping around it. Until the day you misstep and oops it's brought up again.

If I think a person is unfairly upset I say it, just because no one things it's worth discussing doesn't mean it isn't. A third party expressed their plans over a month prior. And just NOW that it's actually coming up is this person getting upset. And everyone has either been straight up angry at that person for being upset, or trying to soothe things out. No. Just no. If this was a big deal, you should've said something... oh I don't know... while it was still in the planning stage? Don't like the date? SAY SOMETHING. Don't like the plans for the event? Once again, say something! Making a bitch fit about it when the information had been there, available, doesn't make any sense to me.

I get it, sometimes people aren't aware ahead of schedule enough, at that point if that person and their stuff didn't matter then, why should it be now?

    They just... gah!

Oh, and thirdly? Water spritz to the Shen-Kitty and her owner. Just because we have litter boxes for our cats, doesn't mean you shouldn't keep yours available and out. Yeah you'll have to clean it, but it's better than the cats getting territorial... like they are now. My kitty was doing nothing but trying to do her business. Drinking a scotch and going "well.. bad kitty" doesn't help.

Um, I'm pretty sure if your landlord is making you live in a dangerous situation you can report them to the police for health violations.

And report them to the health dept.

I suffer from this same exact thing! >.< It's the toughest thing in the world trying to balance everything out, then on top of it all, working your tail off at a minimum wage job and making not even enough to pay rent, let alone save for anything else that YOU actually want.
Hang in there, you're definitely not alone.

    Coral Sybil,
Get out of there. Forget your roommates, landlords, right or wrong.
    This is your health.
Minnesota has lots to offer - go!
That's the great thing about renting.
    Go!

That's sadly what I keep telling my roommates but they keep pushing how they don't want that, how they've done a lot of work on the house and how they want to rent here for a few years cause they're sick of moving. And I'm just over here screaming at them "but what if it doesn't get better. there has got to be better options out there. Who cares if we have to move?" Apparently they do. So if I want out, I have to leave my fiance aside. They most they want to do is send in health bills to the landlords, I have been renting a lot less than they have, but I'm starting to think I'm the only one thinking

I say you just go do it anyways. There is literally nothing worth risking when your health is involved.

That's true... I think the scary part is. I could be seriously ill in the throat and lungs and not know it... since the surgery to remove an abnormal tonsil as preteen I haven't actually been able to tell when I'm actually sick.

You should definitely check with your doctor. It could also help with getting your shitty landlord to do something.

    Mold is a scary thing.
There has been a problem with mold in my parents' house for years, and convincing them to do something about it was as exhausting as rolling a millstone up Mt Everest by hand.

I'm begining to be severely affected by it now, but they still refuse to believe it's "that bad", and they don't want to move.
I had an expert test the mold spore concentration, and it's three times that which is already considered dangerously high and a health threat.
Ye, but no, they've lived here for so long, and nevermind the house is too big for them to handle.

Been looking for a place to move for a while now, but even a few small rooms anywhere cost up to half a million, it's crazy.
I hate renting, because I've seen too many greedy and shitty landlords :/
And it's really hard to find anyhing to rent if you bring little ones too.

I can only pray to the Tidelord something will turn the current

Let me preface with this: I'm diagnosed with bipolar mood disorder. I take a ton of meds for it, and even then- it doesn't stop me from acting wonky from time to time.

When my boyfriend broke up with me back in April, I was a royal mess. We were together for a year, we lived together, we shared everything together. One day he discovered that I had self-medicated on 4/20 and knowing that I've had a history of substance abuse- broke up with me. Just like that. I had a therapist appointment scheduled for the next day, and I attended it, hoping that I would get some kind and warm words of wisdom from my therapist.

Instead, I was Baker Acted. For being sad (not suicidal).

So now I'm stuck with a 450 dollar hospital bill for being handcuffed and thrown in the back of a police cruiser all because I was sad that my boyfriend broke up with me. The bill collectors are after me, and I don't know what to do. I don't have money for this!

That's ridiculous! Can you fight it somehow?
Things like that make me so glad I live in a country with health care (that is, if our PM doesn't strip it from us before the next election...)

Why is it we ( or I ) are self-conscious about what others think?
So my office’s mechanical drawings “Flow controls, drive systems, high speed separators” are slowly being replaced with scale pattern drawings, fin shapes, mechanics of tail motion and MerStuff like that. Customers and my Wife earlier after seeing them would make no comment or comments in a condescending tone “You like Mermaids?”, I liked how they go quickly quiet after I say “Yes!” Now they have seen the momentum to creation of a tail and have gotten the courage to say “You’re making a Mermaid tail?” Somehow it’s easier to say yes to like Mermaids than making a tail.
I couldn’t imagine what it would be like telling my wife “Oh I just spent $5,000 on a Mermaid tail from Merbella.”
Time to go buy some components to test some tail ideas.
I may grow old, but I'll never grow up.

I'm sorry you feel like that! I've definitely been in an awkward situation before with answering 'yes' to my mermaid 'addiction'. When I first told my husband, he chuckled. Definitely thought I was joking. He figured out pretty soon that I was serious with this ambition. I recently put in my order for a silicone tail and I let him know. He knows the prices, and while he didn't seem completely thrilled about the idea of me getting one, he's finally ended the condescending tone he used to have.
I think eventually you'll find that people will ease into what you love. Because after all, if you love it that's all that should matter

I did a whole week of work a couple of weeks back including a Saturday (where I got yelled out by both my coworkers and customers) and I asked for two days more to visit a friend before London MCM and was told that the other counter person who had more then a week off would kick up a fuss.

Shows who is favoured in my work.
