That awkward moment when asking asking my wife what type of top would she like when I draw her as a mermaid and she replies with, "I want scales to spread up from my tail and cover my boobs. I would also like a top that provides a decent amount of coverage."

That awkward moment when you're smoothing out wrinkles in your tail and you wonder why people are looking at you weirdly. Then you realise that it looks ike you're rubbing your butt :P

Hahaha! I've done that too! Except my tail has a dorsal fin that I want it to be in the middle of my legs, it looks like I'm digging into my butt crack!

TAMW you're trying to undress from a photoshoot, and your nipples are way obviously visible because your underdress for your mermaid outfit is silk (and thus see-through when wet, hence why I have an overdress), and still a little old lady keeps talking to you for 10 minutes about mermaids and photography and a thousand other things.... Apparently completely oblivious to the fact my dress is see-through and my twins are staring her down.

Maybe it's because they're old and they don't care. There are a lot of old women at the community centre that don't even bat an eyelash at you if you're in the nude in the change room. But that's because they're also in the nude.

Old women have seen it all. Lol I was in the change room at our community center after a swim in my tail, and the most innocent looking old woman came up and said "If I had breasts that perky anymore, I'd be a mermaid too! But I don't think they make clam shell bras that are about the size of a 5 year old child! I'd need em to keep these things covered!"

TAMW you're at your grandma's house to see your little cousins (girls aged 4 and 7) and they find out your a mermaid and see pictures, and are FULLY convinced you're a real mermaid and are in awe of you, then your grandma loudly says "Tell the girls how you get out of your mermaid costume!" And you see their eyes change from pure joy to disappointment... thanks grandma

Yep luckily I'm pretty quick with witty replies, when she asked that the girls looked at me getting all sad and I said "well magic of course! How else could I grow a tail like that? If it was a costume why isn't there a zipper?!" That seemed to satisfy them enough, but for some reason my grandma kept asking questions like "well how do you wash the costume?", it was almost like she wanted them to know I was "fake"... which I don't think was the case, my grandma is just not very bright and doesn't realize I'm posing as a REAL mermaid for kids parties, after all who would hire someone to pretend to be a fake mermaid? She's a confusing individual lol

Ah, I see what you mean. Can be difficult to know how to handle situations like that. I find redirection can sometimes work. And I'm glad you could come up with something quick.

TAMW one is floating near the pool boom (the middle floating barrier), and the lady from the swim school, says, "Oh! What a lovely fish tail!"
TAMW she calls her colleague over, "WE HAVE A MERMAID IN THE POOL!!"
TAMW one replies, "NO! NO! SSH! SSH!"
TAMW she is frantically waving at her colleague to come.
TAMW one yells back but its not a convincing yell as it sounds more like a hushed whisper, "NO! STOP! THEY'LL COME AND THERE'LL BE POINTING AND SCREAMING! I JUST WANT A NICE QUIET SWIM!"
TAMW she says again, "Look! We have mermaid in the pool!"
TAMW the pair of them gawp at me and my fish tail (was wearing my modified purple Magictail)
TAMW one spies a red and yellow blob making its way past me, and the lady then yells out to the cutie lifeguard (sigh), "Did you know we have a mermaid?"
TAMW one sinks and doesn't hear his reply, but looking up at the surface, he has a huge grin on his face and an equally loud voice...

So much for going for a mid week swim! I had thought those swim school ladies only set up shop on the weekends, wasn't expecting to see them there on a week day.

Went to the doctor today because I was sick and my cough won't go away... turns out I'm recovering from "walking pneumonia"

Anyway, I saw a new doc at the office today and she asked what I do for a living and I was like, "Well, I'm an artist with a small yarn business and I've just started making a silicone mermaid tail" AND SHE STARTED MERMAID FANGIRLING ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! It was adorable, and a little weird, but I definitely have a new favorite doctor lol.

Also Jaffa: That's hilarious! I've gone in my monofin while they were having senior swimaerobics in one end and had similar reactions.

Oh man that is lame! I had walking pneumonia in middle school. At least now you know what is wrong. I am guessing they gave you pills to take to make it go away? The first two days or so of taking the pills for me, I didn't think I was getting better but eventually it kicks in and you are better!
