Realistic silicone tail needed for one day movie shoot - NYC

I got this request the other day and unfortunately, I can't help him out:

"I am looking to rent a silicone mermaid tail prosthesis for a single day, for a short film shoot in New York City. All shots will be interior, with one scene featuring submersion in a filled bathtub. I am not sure whether or not you have an existing stock of rentable prostheses on top of the custom production work, but if you do, I would like to inquire about your rates, and what sort of information you would require from us (presumably actress measurements, color scheme, and our insurance information).

We have already shot much of the film. We are simply holding out for a single day of shots with the tail, to be schedules when we can find one. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks.

Ideally, the tail would be kind of an orange-red goldfish color, nothing too crazy. Muted would be best, especially if the above isn't feasible.

The budget is very low, all out of pocket."

If anyone is interested in renting a tail for a day, let me know and I'll send you his info. I DON'T know the guy, so be sure you have all the info from him before committing.

How do you guys feel, in general, about renting out your personal tails? I've been approached a couple of times over the years, by random people I don't know working on a creative project, and I've always turned them down. I get very jealous and territorial with my tail. I've made one exception (helping Raven out with a project) and I think that will be the only time I ever let anyone else wear it. How about you guys?

I would NEVER rent out my tails. I have had people ask me to rent my bellydance costumes and that is always a no too. The only way I would, is if I charged them what the costume was worth and if it came back undamaged, then I would refund...Like a security deposit. LOL

Right? I let friends and family try on/play around in my old Mertailor tail, now that I've got my Merbella, so I don't seem like a total bitch when I yell "DON'T TOUCH" at them with my silicone.

I had a bad experience with someone trying on my MC tail and it ripping due to a small difference in our measurements. Since then, nobody touches my tail until my Mernation tail is ready.

Noone really is allowed in my craft room where my tail is still laying on the floor b/c I have yet to put up hooks. My kids come in there occasionally and I have to chase them out. constantly tell them to be careful and stay away from my tail. LOL

I MIGHT let my daughter try on my tail - and I would be the one supervising - but otherwise NO.

The movie guy was looking for someone who definitely rents them, has insurance (I checked it out), and is willing to pay around 1k for the rental.

I might be able to go on-set for the shooting, so I would be able to supervise the tail use. I haven't heard if my suggested tailmaker has responded yet.

Maybe I'm just paranoid but it's a bit weird that no tailmakers have agreed to rent to him. As individuals I don't think it's a good idea at all for any of us to help him if we don't have suitable insurance + a hefty deposit.

I meant he has insurance and is willing to pay up to a thousand dollars to rent a tail for a day.

I haven't heard from him lately, so maybe he's found someone.
