"Sabawaelnu are Mi’kmaq water spirits. Like European mermaids, they have human upper bodies and fish tails. They have power over storms, but do not harm people who show them proper respect, and Mi’kmaq people who learn to interpret their songs correctly can predict the weather. Their name literally means "water people." They are sometimes also called the Halfway People. "
Maybe if we listen closely to her song, Mermaid Mutiny will tell us when Spring will come.

I love that Mutiny put so much of her own culture into her mermaiding. It's not that I don't love all y'all else, but as a WOC I love seeing other WOC bring their own versions of mermaids to the table.

That's what we are hoping. We dealt with an issue of racism recently and chanelled it into this creatively

So David just sent us our first snaps from the photoshoot at the beach with him! Love the photos and being with Mermaid Lilium again was beyond amazing, can't wait to see her again!! these are the first two shots I got

So my dark mermaid shoot was today, SO much fun! I've only gotten one photo back as of right now but I'm already loving it! Can't wait to show you more!
