Downloading pics: is it ever okay?

I love to see pics of merfolk and water-related things, but soon it's quite possible that I will have no access to the 'net. I'd like some outside perspective on whether or no you guys think it is okay to download pics of merfolk (whether real people or artwork).

    1. These will go only on my personal laptop which no one else touches.
    2. None of them will leave my laptop ever.
    3. I need something for when I am in isolation from other people and my loves. This doesn't mean that they have to be any people, but, I love the art and fun of merfolk and you all have amazing tails!
    4. Be gentle please. If you think it's a bad idea please say so but please be gentle.

I screencap images that I like and keep them in a Mermaids folder on my desktop...whether it's the tail or the image itself for photography values or what, I don't personally see anything wrong with keeping your favorite pictures around.

I don't see an issue with it either. I think a lot of people keep other people's photos of things they find interesting on their computer. I like making powerpoints filled with photographs.

The only thing I think is wrong is when people copy someone's photo and then claim it is their photo, or even worse they claim the subject in the photo is theirs. I was having issues with people using my photographs of my birds to market their own birds. It is one thing for someone to take my photograph and claim it is theirs, but to claim that the bird in the photo is theirs and they are selling it is lying to the buyer and that is definitely unfair.

You are obviously not going to do this as your intent is just to have some photos to look at for your enjoyment and you mean no harm to the photographer. I would think the photographers or artists would be flattered that their photo or art meant enough to you that you would save it to look at every now and then.

So I see no harm at all.

I have a couple folders on my computer labeled mer things, mermaid tail inspiration, mermaid inspiration etc. Go for it. As long as you don't repost w/o credit you're solid.

*tries not to sound bad* lol I have tons of mermaid tail photos saved on my phone and laptop- I don't do anything but adore them until I can get my own silicone tail >.< haha

I guess if it's just to look at, it would be fine

It would probably be best if you make sure to put the copyright holders name in the file name, that way you wont forget the name of the Mer or Artist.

I do that when I can Waterdragon. Sometimes it's impossible but I like to because then I can have more 'memories' and be able to appreciate it more thoroughly.

Nowhere Chatfish. Why do you ask?
