I was really excited to join the mer community... But after seeing this, I don't know if I really want to or not, because holy crabs this is really terrifying.
I love the idea of being a mermaid, swimming with a tail and being what I dreamed of being since I was a guppy. But I never expected that this was what I would find!
The idea of merverts and collectors is really creepy to me, and it happens to so many mers all over the internet. Some people just need to take a look at themselves and realize what boundaries are, because most of them have no concept of the matter.

Since this thread is up again, I want to let everyone know I went through my FB friendslist and purged everyone who
-had a fake name/pictures
-had up lewd or violent pictures or links to them
-was a total stranger to me with no indication why he/she would be interested in me (friend collectors?)
-businesses advertizing
-random scuba dudes who turned out to be spearfishers.
I'm sorry if anyone was purged by mistake, I was looking everyone up prior to removal, but I was seeing dimly through a red haze (and drool dribbling down) after I had gone through 400 pages or so
may be a mervert, just started following me so I checked who he was following and
not kink shaming but to be honest I was a bit mortified. I blocked them because I really don't want to deal with any possibilities. I especially hate when people creep on my account even if you're in the community and normally people tend to do that because I don't have my mermaid pictures up front and center.
