Mertailor's biggest issue is inconsistency when it comes to products. There's no quality control. Some example (and yes, these are recent, from this year so you can tell it's still an issue): Bulky seams, miss fitting tails (whether that was a customer or error or not I am unsure), clients being unhappy with colour choices, mismatching fin pairs i.e they are clearly supposed to be a set of hip fins but one fin looks different to the other, fins falling off FIRST SWIM, tails being partially stuck together on the inside, I could go on. Noted that these have been times when he has produced fairly flawless work and been a pleasure to work with, but unless you're a high-profile client it's like a 50-50 chance you're gonna get a sub- quality tail. I think
Mermaid Corinna said it the best in her mertailor review: "
I realized that in his mind he is the mermaid tail superstar and I should count myself lucky that he is making me a tail."
I think you should go check out the review section for any tail maker you're considering first, but most people here will tell you not to risk your money with him and I'm sure like 99% of people would agree that Finfolk is the much better choice to go with, personally I would never call Mertailor and Finfolk 'Rivals' because there is no competition in my eyes. We've never had any complaints from a Finfolk recipient except maybe one which was a minor thing of 'the colour wasn't as electric as I would have liked'.
Here is Mertailors:

As for Finfolk you'd be better off checking their Finfolk forum as there aren't very many reviews, however there is a lot of stuff there to go through.
