Ohh I love theories and such so I'm going to have a go at your post TritonsGuard to try to make some sense to some of it. And I totally got where you were coming from. The first thing I thought like that was the horcruxes in Harry Potter. Whenever someone that wasn't Voldemort had it, the horcruxes would posses the person to do stuff. Like Ron running out on them in the Forest of Dean. I hope you're a Harry Potter fan to understand this.

Another thing that was not concluded was the chambers second ability, transportation and imprisonment. Both Ondina and Erik were transported to a place its purpose seemed to be some kind of jail. One must wonder what it was for, who it was for, and more importantly, are they still there.
I think that area they were in was a jail of some sort. When the war broke out it seemed to be the place that they would drown their enemies. I mean mermaids and mermen can hold their breath for a long time but sooner or later they would have to come up for air. This could also be some kind of torture device of some sort as well. My guess is that, since it was controlled by mermen, was to hold the mermaids prisoners. I don't think anyone is still there but since Zac is a descent of the person who made the chamber he is the one that holds the most control over the chamber.

They are HIDEOUS! I called them the exact same thing awhile back. Can't believe they couldn't come up with something more flattering...but then I don't like their thick, clunky tails either.

Now the bra thing i never understood. Is it a like.. an actual bra like a top or is it part of their skin? Cause if its the latter the straps always move around when they do.
Also, those tails are lovely but ive said it before, the functionality of them suck and their is a gap for days. They swim so slowly. Like 00000 propulsion.

As far a a plot and background, story and writing i think this show is more "write as you go" as opposed to a completely mapped out show. So many things make zero sense. Haha but ill still watch it. To da grave!

The "scale bra" thing always bothered me to. It looks crappy and cheap. Honestly if they wanted them covered I think a scaled tube top or something would look and work better. The tails look awesome but the seem to swim rather slow when they are not shooting through the water like a torpedo with the help of cgi. It's to bad the extended tails don't work as well as I would think they would. I'm curious now if the mermaid tails in the movie hook suffered the same problem.

I am not so certain that they are moving so slowly... It can be very difficult to tell in an ocean how fast someone in moving. There is surge and current and also the background may be further away than it appears thanks to magnification. I think you would have to see the tails in a pool to know how fast they go. I've never liked the thick look of them, though, I definitely agree on that!

There is an episode of H2O with Bella and Will swimming in the pool in season 3. When he is supposed to meet with a sponsor, mid-season ish I think? Maybe not. I can't recall.

The actresses in interviews always say it feels so fast to them, I've never thought they seemed slow. Leisurely, because they rarely need to swim fast (Mako Mermaids has more hurried/fast swimming scenes) in H2O but never really "slow." The Hook tails I feel like were on for such a short amount of time it's so difficult to judge anything about those, lol.

While determining the relative swim speed is impossible without having a comparison, H2O swim scenes felt always slow and cumbersome to me.
You also never see them move more than 2 or 3 seconds, then comes a close-up.
The H2O tails are heavy and not very flexible, so maybe that's why.

In Mako, the swim scenes are a bit longer and look better, although they're still not plentiful and the only one who is ever shown swimming longer than a few seconds in a row is Zac (who has a background in swimming).

Anyway, there is plenty of footage of mers or freedivers with monofins where you can SEE they're swimming fast, simply because the undulation amplitude is small.
Best example for fast swimming: that one video named "Monofin Jump". You know which one.
It's easy to tell when he races up he's swimming fast.

So if a mer or an actor looks like they're hardly moving, then that is because they are not swimming fast
Granted, it's not always needed to be fast (in fact, for freediving, it's detrimental if you go for a long downtime), but if someone can and does swim fast, you still see it.

And its so much more tiring to swim fast! I can't imagine doing that in something more than a fabric tail.

I dont think they ever swim in the ocean. Im pretty sure its a pool the whole time and an aquarium for ocean scenes, at least the latter was my impression.
Even like a bra that had sea weed and netting and sea stars would give us a clearer idea of what it is than what they wear now haha

Also funny to me is when anyone swims together or anything they always have moments where they stare at each other and smile
Haha i find that funny. And unrealistic to a degree but i knit picking now haha

You mentioned this before, but we still don't know how fast is "fast"

Also, I imagine a swimmer/freediver like Hannah would be able to get much more out of those tails than the actresses.

Didn't the interview say they practiced in the pool for week or a month? Something like that. Guessing with paid trainers you'd be able to swim comfortably at least.

Sure, but you need certain muscles to do a good dolphin kick, and those don't grow that fast.
Hannah has been diving all her life though.

Looks like an H2O mermaid will be joining the Mako cast for an episode at least! My bet is that it will either be Rikki (Cariba Heine) or Bella (Indiana Evans) as they aren't doing any major projects at the moment unlike Cleo (Phoebe Tonkin) and Emma (Claire Holt) who are involved in big projects here in the US. I can't wait to see the storyline and how they explain the crossover!! Looks like they will be reprising their character rather than just playing a new one otherwise JMS would have just said "actress" rather than "mermaid."

If he sticks true to the "original" part (meaning Cleo, Rikki, or Emma), my bet is on Rikki.
