yeah I think that's a great idea! Maybe a more in depth look at monofins.

As far as titles I was thinking "The Fishy Business Companion" something like that haha!

    I like that title idea!
the first book has a lot about tail types but not too much about monofins
also, anything in the vlogs that hasn't been covered in the first two books?

Side note, maybe a section for book and vlog on mermaid festivals?

Maybe a section about mermaid conventions? What to expect, How to budget, What to bring, stuff like that?

Hey folks. I'm happy to announce I'll be co writing this third book with Mermaid Mutiny. She has a great business background along with photography, operations, and management. We are having a meeting tonight to brainstorm the topics to be covered.

Please let me know if there's any other info you'd like to know especially when it comes to areas that you didn't feel had enough coverage in the first book.

I want this third one to complete it all so that when you're done with it it has helped you map out your whole business plan! So you can physically take the book like a rough draft to help you create business plans, proposals, contracts, and more.

I'll also be redoing the resource section to bring it up to date!

Like I previously said in another tread, I would love to hear more about mermen

I feel there is a lot more that could be said. It would be very interesting to hear merman Christian's input on the subject. That part for the book could also help a lot of boys and guys to make their dream real instead of fearing what people or society could say on them out of hate, ignorance and such.

Things I'd personally like to see:

    * A handy-dandy checklist of things to remember to take to gigs (maybe even various supplemental lists for specific kinds of gigs)
    * Maybe a section detailing various types of mers/mer archetypes - There's a lot of folks who don't know that there's a ton of "alternative"/darker-style mers out there. I know the "tropical/sunshiney" mers are the most common, and well-known, type of mer, but I'd like to see folks feeling that it's okay to be a "creepy mer" (possibly with some artwork, I'm sure there's a few mer-artists who would be fine with you using their work)
    * Mermaidy things to do when you can't get to the water
    * Maybe some mermaidy recipes/simple craft tutorials? (I have quite a few recipes saved myself)
    * Natural solutions for us chemically-sensitive merfolk (alternatives to chemical cleaners, skin/hair care, makeup, etc.)
    * As always, ideas of neat things to do with clients!
    * Tips on taking nice pics/video underwater, breath holds, etc.
    * Product recommendations - goggles, earplugs, noseplugs/clips, etc.
    * DEFINITELY more about mermen! I'm loving the influx of merdudes we've been getting here and elsewhere in the community lately!
    * Neat mer-mythology tidbits! I adore mythology and history Plus it's nice knowing where we "come from"
    YES YES YES!!

and maybe something about wearing wigs in/under water to protect your own hair? Just an idea. I have really thin hair and u can almost see my scalp when I put my hair together for a headdress or being under water. Just a suggestion, knowing I'm not the only one.

Sounds so interesting!! Where can I buy the first two books??

Btw, I totally second Miyu's ideas! Especially the diy section, the tips on taking pics and breath holds, and mermaidy things to do when you can't swim

How about a section on the who, and the why of our being mermaids? I know the person in the mirror was not who I am, but I didn't know mermaid would be it.

Definitely what Miyu said- recommended hair & skincare products for mers. I'd hate for my skin to get even worse than it already is, plus I also have very thick hair.

Perhaps a section on the recent outbreak of pools banning mermaid tails? How to communicate effectively with pool management/lifeguards so as to prevent problems and spread accurate information on mermaiding safely.

To keep from getting banned, before I go to a new pool I always check their website and read the rules. If they so no fins, I don't even bother trying to convince them otherwise. If they allow regular bi fins, then I call and ask if there are any restrictions such as fins in lap lane only. I tell them I have a monofin and explain that it is a piece of swim equipment used by freedivers. If that's allowed, then I go to the pool and use ONLY the monofin until I see how it goes over (usually the lifegaurds think it's awesome and want to know where I got it ) THEN, after all that, I pull out the tail.

Now, I'm pretty lucky and live in a city with multiple pools, but I know not everyone has options. This is where a section detailing communication with lifeguards would be good. Like, "How To Convince Your Local Pool You Are Not Going To Drown Yourself (or Injure Anyone) and NOT Get Banned." Maybe by offering to take a swim test, both in and out of your tail (my pool makes everyone under the age of 16 do this to go in water deeper than 4 feet). And making sure lifeguards understand how monofins and tails work. Or staying in lap lanes during open swim or coming during adult swim hours to reduce crowding and the chance of accidentally whacking someone with your fluke (although honestly, the tail is BEHIND you, they are the ones swimming into you, not the other way around....)

As a professional mer who works with lots of pools, I'd assume you have some pretty good ideas on how to handle these issues.

This is covered in the first book too but we plan to extrapolate

I think a neat idea for a new book would be a book of interviews and biographical sketches of different notable members of the mer-community, telling their stories about what mermaiding means to them. I feel this community is incredibly diverse, and many of us have some interesting stories to tell
