And that sounds like fun, Dan! I haven't gone in ages. Not sure it'd be my scene any more, but I think it's great that's what you want to do. I just have problems with confined places and large crowds pushing in on me. I don't give a fig in the water because my mind is in the water, but don't give me air to breathe, and I shrink.

Yeah. I don't get that one either. Why were people SO against Aquamarine? When I saw the advertisement, I was determined to watch it, despite disgruntled reviews. I've never been able to get enough of the mer-world, always fascinated by it, never able to be a part of it. (Until recently, when I discovered how real mermaids are.) I wasn't disappointed that I recall. (Life has happened since. It's been a while since I've been able to watch it.) I'd have jumped for the steal of a deal too!

I feel the same way about my Date With An Angel DVD; it was a legendary flop, but I really like it for some reason....I wonder what that says about me...lol

Yes, Michelle! My husband and I are 32 and 33 respectively. (I'm the younger of the two of us.) Yesterday, I was talking about how we are "past our prime" when it occurred to me that we are actually still very young. I don't know if it has any thing to do with how judgmental of age this society seems to be or because of some serious trauma we've been through over the past half-decade. But we really are NOT that old! When you think about it, people are living longer and longer these days. There are many who have made it to a whole century. And even they are young compared to the age of the earth itself.

SeaGlass Siren, your experience is much like one of my earliest anime experiences! I was only 16 and just starting to delve deep into anime thanks to the inspiration of Sailor Moon, thus I searched a relatively-local video store for any other anime I might enjoy. Spotting Rumiko Takahashi's Mermaid Forest, I thought to myself, Cool! A mermaid-anime done in the style of Ranma 1/2! Maybe the mermaids will be as beautiful as those in (one of my favourite new video games) Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen! One quick examination of the blurb on the back of the box revealed that the Japanese have an unpleasant legend that eating the flesh of the ningyo (mermaid!) makes humans immortal!

Then, a few months or so later, I discovered that the same legend was prevalent in Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen....

That awkward moment when you see an advertisement on TV for some place or event and it starts with a mermaid swimming and the advertisement graphic has a photo of a mermaid in it too and then you start thinking about the other mermaid advertisement you saw for the local seafood shop and then you start feeling like you are missing out on a lot of good local promotional things that could use a mermaid.

It has been so weird how all of a sudden there are local TV commercials with a random mermaid in them. Also, I want to know who these local mers are so that I can swim with them!
