I swim solo all the time! I don't have a swimmable tail right now AND I MAKE THEM!

Don't give it up if you truly love the feeling of gliding through the water...your signature gif is so graceful, you clearly have a knack for it...so maybe there's a little setback...you'll get past it!

    Swim on, sister!

Maybe you could get another monofin, one that fits all foot sizes, then bring that to the pool each time you go to the pool. You might end up with a swimming buddy.

I swim alone too. Got me eye candies to look at on the side, waiting to rescue someone... Hahaha!

And thanks, Cheshire! I knew you wouldn't aim anything at anyone! Don't worry!!! I agree. I don't understand how people can be so inhumane toward others. I know not everyone understands how to empathize with others completely, but only sociopaths can't do it at all. x-x

Celaeno and Sabriba, you're so sweet. I really want to kick him out, but he's been my husband's friend for years and he still considers himself my friend, though I don't know if that's even true anymore. As Lunette stated, she was the one who noticed it based on what I described to her from the situation. I felt so stupid and I hate to admit it, but I had to keep from crying in the middle of Wall-Mart when she made me realize it sounds like he manipulated us. (We were buying pins for the tail). (╯︵╰,) I'm so thankful she did, though! It occurred to me that it was possible, I've seen him sort of manipulate others on a smaller scale. But for him to manipulate US, his friends, seemed extremely unlikely. I thought he respected us more than that. But he's a narcissist through and through. And that much I did know, but because he's never been cruel to us and had always actually seemed to care, I thought he at least had a "heart of gold." But no... So now, I just avoid him. He already got in my nerves before but I thought it was just me being impatient with his personality. Every time I talk to him, he mansplains to me how his opinion is right and mine is wrong. X-x; it's very irritating... But oh well. At least my friend Jaz is moving in and she knows about the situation and is very sweet and protective of me so hopefully, that will help!!

This so called friend needs to move out of your house pronto!
I'm happy to hear that your hubby is on your side and is willing to ask him to leave, that must be such a relief!
Out with the manipulator and in with the peace and quiet!
    Good luck!
    Thank you so much.
I can't express how much this community means to me. There are so many amazing mers on here! I'm very happy that my hubby is on my side, as well. I love him.
We have two other guests that we've known a long time, too, but they've both been fantastic and paid the rent on time and everything. We love giving our friends a place in our home. I've just determined now that this guy is not our friend. And I totally understand and agree with your friend's saying when it comes to guests that are total strangers. They can end up being selfish people and taking advantage. And evidently, even when you know them, but they're already selfish. :< Thankful that he's almost out the door...

@Sephina. I swim alone as well. Like others have said, maybe get a separate monofin and swim that way at a pool? Never know who you might run into that's been wanting to do something like mermaiding. Hell I've found people I work with interested in it when I started mentioning swimming and showed them some pictures.

    Totally agree here.
I have swimmed alone myself as well. At first it was akward for me but the pool i swam at was so nice and magical (it's build like a jungle and you swim under the stars) that i soon lost myself in the fantasy of the pool and swam away every Friday morning (only time i was allowed there with the tail)
I'm sad not to swim anymore due to health reasons but i want to start again someday anyway, i just love it too much!

Here is a link with photos of the awesome pool i swam at:

SeaGlass you are so funny with your term, "mansplaining." Every time I see it, it makes me chuckle. Now I have to question myself to see if I ever do it.

Mansplaining and manspreading, both words for things that happen so often they need their own terms.

pissed with the postal service. or possibly just my local post office. I've had trouble with them before but recently they've been fine until they decided that my Etsy order should vanish between New Jersey and California
Take the wave now and know that you're free
Turn your back on the land face the sea
Face the wind now so wild and so strong
    When you think of me
Wave to me and send me a song

In my exchanges with you I don't think you do. You're a quaint person to talk to and very polite, and never say anything stupid like "no you are wrong whatever the reason because you are feminist and therefore stupid"

It just depresses me that I have something I put do much money into, only to never use it. I feel like it would be better off with someone who could use it on a regular basis.

I heard a really great sermon on encouragement while I was driving home tonight and it made me think if you. The pastor was talking about the power of encouragement. He used the author Nathaniel Hawthorne as an example. Without his wife's encouragement, he never would have written The Scarlet Letter, which earned him a fortune and reputation for literary excellence world wide! And that so many of the greatest composers and musicians almost threw in the towel, but one person in their life encouraged them not to give up and they went on to become famous for their talents. I hope you don't give up. You could end up being one of the most talented mers out there! I hope that helps you!!! (^.^)

Thank you, is rather not be famous though. Lol I can't imagine the pressure there is to be famous. A large part of the problem is that I live quite a distance from any pool, I only have open water on the east coast of nova Scotia (so very cold) to swim in. So I really don't have much swimming time at all. I still just feel like my gear and tail would be put to better use with someone who can use it often.

4 months in a new town and haven't even come close to making a friend, or even hanging out with people I went to high school with. More and more I think what people tell me, and so far I have only had one real friend since I was 5, and we were friends for only about 3 months. I have no idea how to make friends anymore, I can't tell apart an aquantince from a friend, seems like I am constantly pissing off people at work. I am not the only person at work from out of town but they seem to be friends with the coworkers, and I am lucky if some of them even talk to me. Sometimes when I watch OITNB and they talk about Solitary confinement it almost seems that would be better...at least you know you won't see anyone or talk to anyone...here there is hope that keeps getting crushed.

Thank you SeaGlass, and you are right. That is something I would NEVER say! I had a mother I loved, a sister I cherish, and could have had a daughter(s) if it was in the cards for me. If someone was that disparaging to any of them I would be tempted to knock their teeth down their throat....politely, of course.
