Thread: Straps vs Footpockets

    Straps vs Footpockets

I'm exploring the possibility of making my next monofin because I have a raaaaaather different design in mind. I am a stickler for NO HEELS showing, and I'm working on a design to hide heel as much as possible. I saw the beautifully floppy fin Pearlie made a little while back, and now I'm stuck on the idea of possibly using straps.

Experiential evidence anyone? Pictures? Name: caudel.jpg

Foot pockets instead of straps can be horrendous to try and get your feet into.

I'm about to start offering a different kind of monofin with a simple strap system...simpler than the ones in photos and videos I've posted recently...it's the most comfortable fin I've ever worn!

Just a little more testing and tweaking and I'll be making some available...then hopefully, full on production!

If you go with straps, make sure you can still reach them through the tail's body! (Ask me how I know...)

Sorry Lorelei, I'm not sure I understand. Which are you saying is more horrendous?

That's so great Pearlie! I'm so in awe of your work. I'll be updating on scales again soon, so stay tuned. One of these days I'll be posting a design thread!!

If it's the monofin you debuted earlier, I'm about to die of happiness.

Alaria, I need the exact same answer you do. I want to buy a monofin from Specialfins, but am very unsure as to whether straps or footpockets are more visible and which is better to have. If more people could state their opinions, I'd really appreciate it!

Sorry about that, I was attempting to say that straps are far superior (unless you have more of a watershoe, in which case, I have no idea).

I have foot pockets instead of straps on my monofin. Not the greatest idea since it takes a while to get on, but I'm pretty good at it now. I use lotion to ease my foot into the the foot pockets.
I was worried that a strap would be uncomfortable digging into my heel.
