I want the black fin. Want it!
That's a perfect shark fin... Yep yep.

I think a black mono fin is a great idea, it seems more of a 'masculine' color rather than the orange and turquoise she has out. Granted in my opinion color should not have a gender attached to it, but I am glad that there is a variety in colors now.
I'm REALLY excited to see a solid color merfin. Granted, I would have preferred a pale color (opaque white! ♥) but I understand that black is more appealing for most, and pale rubber may have staining issues. Has anyone successfully painted one of these babies yet??
I have happily used my Kid's size Large Merfin all summer but I would definitely consider picking up an Adult Small in black, it would be so much easier to *match*, or design a sequin tailskin for... *secret plotting* ...But I'm also super thrifty so I'm hoping that a US retailer will get them in and they'll go on SALE somehow! XD
Anyone have experience with how Adult Small compares to Kid Large?? The Kid's fin I'm using is an exact fit for me, perfect once it's on and I love the fact that it does not slip, though I need to invest in proper thin scuba socks (burned through the sport socks i was using this summer). Any idea if the Adult Small would be okay for me with thicker neoprene socks? Any suggestion on what brand/size I should try? My feet are about 23.5cm in length, technically a size 6.5US but I generally have to size up because my feet are wider, yet the Merfin has never pinched my picky toes!! Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me with this!
The adult merfin measurements from tip to tip is 26-27". Measured and guessed because I trimmed off the fluke tips on mine.
And the height from heel strap to fin tip is 25.5"
Someone else did a comparison, its even bigger than a competitor!
I wear 3mm neoprene socks with my merfin as it is a medium and my feet size is 7.5. Its very loose without socks but it doesn't fall off.

Hmmm could you measure the length and width of one foot pocket on the small and medium? Please?

Thanks, I have seen them laid on top of one another so I know it's a little bigger overall. I'm okay with that (though I'll probably swim even faster in a size larger, geez), I was just wondering if anyone was in the same boat as me, able to use two sizes. If so, is it better to have the smaller, snugger size, or the larger worn with thicker booties. Thanks!
Looking at The Merfin size chart I should really be able to use both. I was afraid the Kid's would be too narrow and pinch my toes but they have never bothered or rubbed them!

RNHime, you are so lucky! Me feet size is too big for kids fins and too small for adult fins. No one in my family has the same skinny hamster feet like mine!![]()

Haha, I like my feet just fine, but they come with their own set of challenges in finding a comfy fit. I'm just so glad I took the chance on a Merfin. Seems like they were made out to have some of the narrowest foot pockets of all monofins, but I guess the rubber stretches enough to accommodate my tootsies. =P
Here is a Q for you, since you own a couple Adult sizes. Is the Medium fin larger than the Small? I'm curious because the kid's sizes are scaled so smaller shoes sizes have smaller fins. Just curious if they did that with the Adult molds as well, or if the fins are the same size and just the foot pockets get bigger. Thanks!
Thanks so much for that input! I know that is usually the case, and I figured it would be for the Adult sizes anyway. I could be wrong, as I've only seen my Merfin, but I think the SM & M kid's sizes are actually scaled down a teeny bit? It looks that way in Mahina's MerPod videos with the "wild children", and you see shots of the various small fins hanging on poles. Those vids were shot before the "lil" merfin came out, which is obviously a whole 'nother mold of it's own.
I know with other sport brands like Finis the blade is always the same, just foot pockets change.
I own a Hydra Monofin and those Monofins look really great , especially for tailmaking! (Since I hate the straps on my Hydra ) How good is the propulsion? And the Stiffness , maybe compared to a Hydra?
I've tried something similar to a Hydra. I find the propulsion similar but the mahina was more flowy and comfortable.

The Mahina us much more flexible, you can bend it a lot since it's rubber, and it won't break from it.
Just wondering, has anyone tried out the black merfin yet? if so could we see it haha
