They tried to get a mermaid track officially on the schedule for 2015, but they will have an aquatics track for 2016!

It is a ton of fun and there is never a dull moment. Always things to do. Dragon Con 2016 is September 2-5.

I believe DragonCon Mers may even still be looking for people interested in helping with the panels. Last time I went was 2014 as I couldn't afford to go in 2015, but man is it a ton of fun! <3 It would be so cool to see more mers there.

Wow, this is so awesome. Is there going to be a group swim in the hotel's pool?

The convention is spread over like 4 hotels, but they have open swims at the Sheraton pool all weekend. They had an awesome pinup by the pool party in 2014 where us mermaids swam around and played games with the guests. ^_^

Tickets were cheapest a few months ago (back at DragonCon 2015). Haha. So get them ASAP. Host hotel rooms are pretty much sold out, just keep an eye out for cancellations and maybe you can grab one. They usually open up another block of rooms over the new year as well. My grandparents only live about half an hour away, so I don't usually worry about a room.

So I took a look at the website and saw that Barry Bostwick is going and immediately got my tail in gear and designed a Columbia tail that I'd kill to wear to this

So I went to the meetup at the pool for the 2015 Dcon, and nothing was said about being an ambassador. I really don't know what happened with this years meetup, it was awful because a bunch of drunk guys jumped in the pool and one lady got kicked in the head while swimming. I'm hoping next year they'll maybe have the pool closed off for like an hour so we can swim without getting injured.

The pinups by the pool was on the book schedule, if I remember correctly. There was just a lot of drunk, rude dudebros there that night. They were so loud we couldn't even hear what the person with the microphone was saying to us. It's good to know it was closed off in the past, that would make a difference in getting to enjoy swimming and getting to know the other mers.

Just slacking on security at their 2015 event I guess. They did not allow anyone other than the mermaids at the 2014 Pinup by the pool, specifically for safety reasons. (They allowed a few cosplayers in near the stairs for photos, but that was it.)

Probably, I hope next year they get back to keeping people out of the pool other than the mermaids for that event. We were pretty much stuck to hanging off the sides of the pool in the water. Couldn't do the race or anything else cause of all the other people in the pool and getting hit with the volleyball.

I'll talk to the folks in charge. That is NOT how the event is supposed to go. Keep that up and it will be cancelled when some drunk idiot drowns. Glad you said something, I didn't realize it got that bad.

Yeah, it was bad. I was really disappointed with it because I'd looked forward to it and getting to meet other mers. I just hope next year it goes well for everyone, I'm not sure how the other open pool nights went as far as meet and swim went. I just went to the pinups thing.

The other meet ups were pretty quiet. Just mers and a couple people interested in being mers. Pinup by the Pool is cool when they enforce rules, but it draws quite a crowd, and you'll get some bad apples in there occasionally.

I can't wait to see what they come up with in 2016, now that they'll have their own track! <3 (Pinup by the Pool is hosted by another track anyway.)
