I love my family! They have been so patient with, and excited about my efforts to lose the weight and eventually don my tail! it's been fun to include them in my adventure and have kept me going when I felt like throwing in the towel. (45 pounds, 5 months, excellent inches! Of two tires, I've almost lost the first!!) My girl friend even found out about professional mermaids and was eager to tell me that mermaiding is more then a hobby. Umm. Yeah! I know! I'd have gotten my first monofin for Christmas, but we've been short on money. Bummer. But when I find the money...

Like, seriously my real name is Alea and it is spelled exactly the same in this story and I have been thinking about making a gold tail.

Here is the story:

There once was a young maiden by the name of Alea. She was traveling across the sea in a ship to live with her wicked-step father. As they drew closer to the rocks, near the shore, a sudden summer storm blew up. Through the rain and mist, everyone saw a mermaid sitting on the rocks, singing her haunting sirens songs. Suddenly a big wave threw the ship against the rocks, and it broke up, sinking to the bottom of the sea. All of the crew were lost, except Alea who managed to catch a hold of a floating plank and keep her head above water. All of a sudden it grew quite, the storm was over as fast as it started. As Alea turned her head she saw a golden tail splash into the water, and before she could blink, up came a beautiful mermaid. Her eyes shone like stars, her hair was golden like the sun and her body was like a shimmering pearl. But where her legs should have been Alea could see part of a golden tail.
"Welcome to my kingdom," said the mermaid. "I've been so lonely and wished hard for a sister and now my wish has come true." As Alea looked into the mermaids mesmerizing eyes, and she saw the goodness shinning through. The little mermaid took Alea by the hand and showed her all the wonder of her kingdom under the sea. There were golden palaces, floral gardens, caves filled with pearls and rare treasures from ships lost at sea.
"I am Queen of this kingdom and though all my wealth is more than any upon the Earth, I am lonely. I have no family and no one to laugh and play with me. Please be my sister and let me share all this with you." Alea was so happy to be wanted and loved, she agreed to stay.
So the little mermaid called all the sea creatures together to celebrate. They placed a diamond and pearl crown upon Alea's head, to turn her into a mermaid. As Alea looked down, she saw ropes of pearls around her neck and a long golden tail where her legs used to be.
So now the little mermaid had Alea to chase under the coral arches, laugh, and play with. She was no longer lonely in her kingdom under the sea.
Often when a storm is brewing you can look through the mist and see them sitting together and singing their sirens song.

A couple minor typos but it's a cute story. A gold tail would be cool. I don't think I've seen one yet.

TAMW the lifeguard boss and his cronie redshirt, are walking towards you, chatting away, and you purposely splash them and swim away.

Me as I surfaced... "HEHEHEHEHEHE!"

TAMW one spies a blue Mirage fin on the other side of the pool, and then curiosity gets the better of me and I cross 6 lanes of traffic, only to hover a little bit away and finally swim closer and I says, "I like your fin." Then proceeded to show her some tricks and how to swim, but poor girl can't keep up with the merfin. So I get bored and swim back across all the lanes, to the other side of the pool.

TAMW one's niece walks into the room when one is sitting relaxed with her feet on her new custom made "monofin".
"Is that your new tail?"

Yea... I was checking out my newest "fin". A paper tracing of the Mirage Rubber Mermaid Fin, in a bigger size and different fluke edging.

and the video they link is a Magictail advert full of little girls who can barely swim.
