    Dear Body,
I know the weather has changed. I know that you hate the cold, but please...please start feeling better. I can't keep feeling this in pain and weak and exhausted. I need to work! I need more money to buy mermaid things! You love mermaid things. You need to ease up if you want big enough shells to cover your books and a new gap wrap for your butt. Work with me here huh? Let's do this thing!
Eat raw garlic everyday. It'll kill the germs and you get better soon.

I can't eat garlic, it upsets my stomach. I have Fibromyalgia, Intersistial Cystitis, Stage 3 Endo, IBS, And a couple more, I'm a walking poster child for autoimmune illnesses.

I second the chicken soup (and or vegetable soup, if you're a vegetarian), and additionally hope you have time for long hot baths.

And Jaffa, killing germs with garlic sounds amazing. I will try this.

I've been dealing with ibs bathroom problems all day and still feel awful. I am seeing my doctor the 15th but I wonder if she would make a weekend night time house visit.

did a vlog series about running a mermaid biz with chronic illness

Raina - I'd gathered from other posts that you had some form of chronic illness but didn't realise its extent. You definitely deserve to be where you are with all the work you've put in. You're an inspiration and I've no doubts you'll help a lot of people realise their potential too, especially if they're dealing with health issues themselves. Thanks for posting this

I second what LouLouBelle said. I didn't realize the full extent of your illness either and it just makes you even more of an inspiration and I hope that your new medication continues to work well for you.

Yah me too. I have a specialist ap today about my endo. I have some serious issues with my pelvic floor muscles and might have to get some shots to make the muscles relax. years of dealing with these issues has not been kind. I tried some nerve drugs and muscle relaxer drugs but no use and too many side effects. However the shots have a 90% chance of fixing it. so here goes!

I hope it works. Good luck!

So about once a year I get sick. It starts as a cold that steals my voice and mutates into a sinus infection and sometimes strep throat. I have to go to work tomorrow but I'm still sick. So I'll go but let my boss know what's going on.

    GRRR! Stupid body!!!

My whole left side hurts. All because today, I decided to go swimming in my merfin!! This happens each time I swim in it.

Am I not ready for this fin or what?!?!

It might just be a whole different set of muscles getting used, or maybe you need to see a chiropractor?

It might be worthwhile asking someone to watch you swim with it to see if you look balanced. It sounds like you're favouring one side more. Try to notice if you tend to turn or roll to one side in particular.

Or if you've done any muscle damage the first time round it can take a long time to heal.

Either way, I hope you get sorted out soon!

How long do muscles take to heal? If not, I'll just end up selling my merfin and stick to my foil. Which I don't mind anyway, cos its such a cool little fin.

It depends on how much damage has been done. Also, if you're restraining the muscles when you swim that'll set the recovery back every time.

You want to exercise as much as you can without causing pain. If you're fine with the foil, I'd stick to that for a good few weeks at least before gently trying the merfin again.

Of course, that will only work if you have actually strained muscles and that's what's causing the pain!

I love my foil! I got it for the sole reason that I can use it during normal pool times (I'm not allowed to use my triton in case I injure someone with it, which is fair enough!) I was amazed at how well I could swim with it - it's definitely my favourite fin at the moment, and the one I'll be using in my tail!

Craaaaaaaaaaaaaap! Just went to see a dentist about getting my two remaining wisdom teeth out and the total cost is more than the sum of all I own. :| The actual hell?! And they don't do payment plans OF Course! Hello, second job. And it's something that needs doing immediately too.

Due to recent health checks, I have borderline high cholesterol, I'm just one point over!! I rarely eat junk food, fried foods, oily stuff etc. and now I have a slow heart rate. I've had to quit my part time job, I was the newspaper deliverer and its disappointing that I can't do that now. I am in the middle of having preliminary checks done, currently wearing a 24hr heart monitor, then on Friday, I'll see my cardiologist again. Its nothing to worry about atm. My GP has said that athletes have a slow heart rate, but I'm not an athlete. Apart from swimming and walking, I don't do any other form of exercise. Does mermaid swimming contribute to having a slow heart beat?

It could do. Generally the fitter you are the slower your heart rate will tend to be. I'm not an expert, though, and I know lots of things could potentially cause a slower heart rate, so I'd go with whatever advice your cardiologist gives.

As far as cholesterol is concerned, it's not the total amount of cholesterol that's most important, it's the breakdown of the 'good' and 'bad' types. Did they give you the breakdown or just the total amount? The overall amount of cholesterol is only minimally affected by what you eat. Genetics actually plays quite a big role there.

I hope it's nothing too serious, whatever's going on.

My own vent: I've had an infection that I'm fairly sure turned into blood poisoning... Antibiotics are finally kicking it, but I have never felt so tired or drained as I have over the past few weeks. I'm really fed up with it now. It's partly my own fault as I know I should have gone to be doctor earlier, but I didn't think it was going to get that bad... If nothing else, I've lived and learned.
