Have to watch what you say sometimes when you think you are alone. Was looking at some nice latex tails last night and had saw a really cool one and unconsciously said out loud " dang I would soo like to get in to her tail" then hear behind me tail? Who's tail. Seems like one of my friends had snuck up on me.. Quickly changed the conversation to the division game.

sigh, have a long way to go before I could think about fitting in one but the journey will be an adventure. On the plus side they are not calling for any rain this weekend so it's every day in the bay for me with my mono.

As a merman, I wonder what you can get away with wearing on your chest.. I'm an odd one with a breast size of 42c, currently I wear full dive skins.

I have happy/sad stuff. The sad part is that I'm back from my 3 weeks in Ireland. The happy is that it was the best trip of my life, completely life-changing, and we loved Ireland so much that now it is our goal to live there, at least for part of the year! I got to visit the Aran Islands, and I swear I saw real selkies in their seal form :P I have pictures on my instagram feed(s), so if you want to see, pm me so I'm not spamming the thread.

    Happy post:
I was supposed to work an 11hr shift today (July 4) but since one of my jobs is at a waterpark, I was told I didn't need to come in because it is supposed to storm all day, and the park will not be busy.

Not happy post: I'm a little bummed because I really could have used the money and if it storms my July 4th plans aren't gonna happen anyway.

Yeah I am worried it will storm here for the 4th. I am guessing your plans were to go swimming for the 4th?

The strange thing is on Saturday we saw tons of boat traffic, lots of kids out on the docks and in the water, and then at night there were numerous firework shows across the bay. It was like Saturday was the 4th. Today it is very quiet so far.

Alea:: My 4th of July plans included going over to my boyfriends brothers place--he had planned on making a MASSIVE slip n side (his backyard is a very steep hill) and enjoying their backyard pool. Luckily the rain -mostly- held off. It was cold for the slip n slide, but thankfully the pool was a toasty 90F. So we were able to still enjoy ourselves!

Another happy post--It was supposed to storm all day today, and thunderstorm in the evening. The rain has not appeared yet, and the community fireworks did not get canceled! yay! Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July festivities!

A few weeks ago my hiking group went to Matilija falls. I thought there might be someplace to swim, so I took my tail. The falls themselves did not have a good pool, but we came across one farther down the canyon. Here are some photos. Everyone else on the hike said it was the highlight of the trip.

This Saturday: Paradise cove, Malibu. Maybe when underwater I can finally find where they hid the two dice.

I got a Trainer 1 monofin off ebay and it came Monday. I tried it out on Tuesday and WOW! My Foil seemed to make me zoom through the water but it has nothing on the Trainer - I very happily zoomed back and forth down the lane for quite a while! The only major downsides (read: learning curves) are that I have to get used to the size for maneuvering in the shallow end without scraping the bottom and that I need to work harder to be agile. If I can find a Shooter to try, that seems like it might be ideal for me - close in size to the foil, power similar to the Trainer (or at least that's how my thought process is going currently).

Also, my neoprene came today! I ordered that off ebay as well, it's 2mm thick and each piece (I bought 2) has a different color on each side. I plan on making at least one neoprene tail before trying my dream tail. While I will probably make my dream tail with the Trainer, I want to make a tail sleeve for my Mahina first. I imagined making it in purple, but when the neoprene actually came I fell in love with the red (which I didn't expect). I want to make another with the burgandy too but I haven't quite figured out what fin yet.

I ended up trying some ideas on bits of the neoprene that I cut off. I know 2mm is the most common neoprene tail thickness from what I've read on here, but it just felt so thin... (I'm used to my scuba wetsuit, which is probably 3-4mm). So for my tester I ended up layering two pieces together and it feels so much better. Now to see what happens on the actual tail...

Anyway, this has all made this week really awesome

So I have always wanted leather bracers, but they are always too expensive at the local Ren Faire...I found some beautiful ones online that were painted to look like worn metal and they were a good price so I ordered them. The artist is away at a convention but today (Friday) they are supposed to be back and I don't know if sometime today they will be shipping out all the orders they got while they were gone or what, but all I know is I will soon have leather bracers!

Originally I got the bracers for my pirate costume, but I think they would be great for some dry mermaid shoots. Eventually I would love to have swimable mermaid armor. My family was a little skeptical that I would get much use out of the bracers when I showed them a photo (they don't know I actually bought them), but I see them working with many of my clothes so I could wear them on regular occasions. I normally don't buy things other than food, gas, or college art supplies for myself so it is always a treat to get something but I still end up feeling a little guilty for spending my money on something I don't necessarily 'need', but something I just wanted.

I got into the course I wanted! I'll be quiet for the next 18 weeks because of it, then after that its back to inyourface Jaffa!

My course is Certificate III in Clothing Production. Hopefully, my enthusiasm for it doesn't make me look like a nut job when I have to announce, "I'm doing this course so that I can learn how to make cute and practical mermaid swimwear."
